Although the thing with misspelling a Band Name is that maybe one actually though they are spelled that way. I remember misspelling Dredg when I first heared of them. Or take the Beatles, how would yopu spell their name if you first heard it. Of course it is a different thing to misspell the usual word or to use the usual word but well....

That's what kills off the laziness argument usually. I'm sure it must take a while to convert normal speech or thought into that kind of crap.
Until, as pointed out, it gets to the point where someone types like that so much that to them it's faster.
That's sad.
Imagine if someone were to hand in an assignment for school typed like that?

I'm continually getting the impression that you leave things open to interpretation and then change the meaning when someone interprets it in a way you don't like.
I'm sure that if no one had said anything to you, you'd have left it. I could very well be wrong, this is just an observation.

You're probably right. Mostly because I absolutely detest discussing things with you, and partly because I realised {again} I'd worded my post wrong. Couldn't be arsed to amend it. I guess I had to be somewhere and didn't want to be late, or something.

I spell the odd word wrong, though usually it's just a letter. By the odd word I didn't mean the word odd. I meant the occasional wrong spelling.

I'd say I get at least 9.9 out of 10. But punctuation is not as easy as it seems, there are at least two rules for commas in the engluish language I know of and rules make languages difficult.

oh god I laughed so hard I cried on that! hystericalAnd to Doom, when it's absolutely necessary I'm quite proficient but I'm also far from perfect, hell I made mistakes grading papers sometimes.
When is being correct with grammar not "necessary"? Granted there are times when it matters more, but when is it not "necessary"?
If you grade papers wrong you shouldn't be grading papers.

Because I'm not perfect and it happens that I missed something.
And when I'm joking around with someone on messenger or typing something really fast, I will mistype something and am too lazy to go back and fix it. Must be nice to be so all knowing and all perfect like you AC. Thats a goal for me to ascribe to. I'll get there one day! 🙂
I actually knew you'd reply, but no I'm not.
Secondly, I know she never implied a lack of necessity for grammar whilst teaching. She said "When it's absolutely necessary". I was curious as to when it's NOT, and why. Chill out.

Glad you think of me as perfect and all that, appreciated.
Moreover, you don't need to be perfect to view correct grammar as necessary all the time. The fact that it's becoming a common view to see it this way is quite depressing.

But when it comes to grading english papers the level of perfection (that sounds funny somehow) should be well above 99%.
[edit]VVD: I agree. Capitalization is pretty easy in english. But I think it's still hard for foreigners at times (I realize that this is not the point of this thread at all, but I want to talk too.)
