I think the Internet is one of the worst things to happen to language. I admit I always liked writing language, perfect grammar in those days, dotting is and crossing the ts. Of course then in comes computer talk, sms and all that. Terrible it seems, I never did pick it up, I sometimes use LOL, but that's it. I guess I'm a bit of a grammar nazi, I just like proper spelling and clear sentence structure.
Just seems like the decent thing to do, I'm not picky, I mean it doesn't have to be perfect, just somewhat clear.
"In relation to internet forums, I think it's important that people realise that we are producing typed representations of how we would verbally interact. I guess it's akin to reading the words of someone who is speaking in a book. The only difference is we don't add the " before and after the commencement of our posts."
"I'm not quoting anyone, by the way." < "Idiot"
There was a point when I refused to use MSN because it made me feel like I was losing brain cells.
I can't stand bad grammar. Nothing complex, but when people don't understand where to put apostrophes, or the different between 'there', 'their' and 'they're' it just irritates me.
I'm sure they learnt that in primary school.
An interseting thing Americans do is to use the word "then" in place of "than", as in "I'm better off then you", rather than "I'm better off than you". Also, "I don't know nothing" when they mean they don't know anything, but what they say actually means the opposite! Americans are hilarious with their grammar and very economical with their spelling, unlike the English Brittons who spell words with too many letters - like color vs colour.

For anyone that didn't get it, I'll translate:
I don't care much about spelling. As long as the messages I try interpreting on this forum, get across.

Actually, that's just poor grammar, it's not because someone's American or not.
