Spelling, grammer and punctuation

Too many rules and exceptions for spelling...............Always hated it.

Not a problem. I only stop and decipher somebody's ebonic post if I think that person has something worthwhile to say. Otherwise I skip that one and move on to the next post.

😮 sorry ; topic fellas

Brought up for air at the behest of my lord and master, Victor Von Doom.

Now, for some clarity:

illude - To play upon by artifice; to deceive; to mock; to excite and disappoint the hopes of.

allude - To make an indirect reference.

Sometimes the greats cover their tracks by burying their bones so to hold off the aching arms of death.

elude - To evade or escape from, as by daring, cleverness, or skill.

Ooo, nice.

The funny part was when yo ass got banned for fighting with Alpha C over the meaning of it.

What thread was that in? Was it this one?

No, dear boy. I believe it was a thread regarding people skipping tracks on albums, if memory serves me correctly.

You got banned? Oh my, to think I missed that 😱

What a very nice thing to say.

Yeah, you know it 😂

So, what happened?

Apparently, in the UK it will shortly not be possible to get high grades in GCSE English if you don't have a very good grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation.

People were complaining about that, which shows just how far it has gone.

It's ridiculous that this previously wasn't the case. How could they give high grades to students who didn't have a good grasp of grammar in English class!?!?

What sort of GCSE English? If it is Literature then they have a case.

No, Language.

Then the complaints must have been cultural. Back to the standard English debate.

I doubt it. The education system in England is littered with ridiculous judgments. I know of an excellent math teacher who was rejected on the basis of his spelling.

I hate people write crap and they can't spell...'wat did u do 2day? skool waz crap wanna cum 2 my plaz?

Christ...that pisses me off.

It's all part of the debate about what purpose grammar serves and what is really meant by 'correct'.

Are you being ironic?
