Agreed. Thor's character is being treated with an almost blatant disrespect at Marvel nowadays.

On a side note, I'm really tired of the way people talk in bendis books. "Woof"? Ive seen that in his books more than once and I cringe every time I see it. Who says that?

He's to quirky in his dialogue also. Little quick "cute" responses that don't fit the characters a lot of the time. But he's done so much better which is why he irritates me even more. Bendis on a good day writes pretty darn well. On his usual self days its basically unreadable.

My question is this: how much does this affect thor in vs matches and overall power ranking? I mean, its not an isolated incident anymore, it's starting to become the norm. At what point do we start to rank Thor lower on the overall power scale? I think that we should have a clear distinction between classic Thor and current Thor, kind of the way that we do between pre-crisis supes and current supes. Cuz as of right now imo Thor is kinda pathetic, which totally sucks, because Thor is one of my fav characters. 🙁

He is currently operating at low to mid Herald. We should distinct the two as well during vs matches (classic and Current Thor). Overall, I agree with this post.

Question, as I haven't been following much Marvel lately...

I see people mentioning how poorly Marvel has been handling Thor. What's happened with him?

Hulk one shotted him. One of the Zodiac two shotted him when it was downed by regular lightning. Mar-Vell knocked him out relatively easy twice. Phoenix knocked him out like 4 times. Cypheonix one shotted him.

And a bunch of others.

The only people who write a high end Thor... or average end are Fraction and that guy who wrote the annual.

Off topic but what comics have you been reading. Asking out of curiosity.

In terms of feats/power level depictions, Bieb mentioned the main points.

In terms of characterization, both Bendis and Fraction take Thor into a nose dive, which is more distressing than Thor just being Worf Effected to put over what ever bad guy is stomping around. He's regressed into a brutish lout.

Ya, Fraction Thor is a big fan of swearing.

Bendis Thor is unsure of what to do all the time.

That's a bit strong imo. He still has his moments and Mjolnir + his godly powers are good for cosmic threats but it's now almost a trend to sell the threat of *insert new uber plot villain* by KOing Thor in shocking fashion. I think it will pass.

Wow regular lightning? That's just insulting.

It really shouldn't, tbh, and for obvious reasons.

Ah, so same ol' Thor, then? Cool. 👆

In Marvel?

Fantastic Four
FF
SHIELD (every 6 months or so when it is released)

I'll pick up a random issue here or there, but those are the only titles I follow consistently, atm.

What Bieb and Jake said. His character really has been wrecked recently. His speech has been butchered but so has personality. He punched a mutant teen in the stomach with a lot more force than you'd think he would for no real good reason either during AvX issue 6.

I hope it passes, because it is getting silly. But seriously, you don't think all of these low showings should affect thor at all jake? If that is the case, at what point do consistent bad showings start to affect a character? After all, apoc used to be a force to be reckoned with, but now he is just a joke due to consistent bad showings. All I am asking is how many bad showings does it take before a character is officially lowered? I am not saying that should happen to Thor right now...but if this shit continues for a lot longer I don't see why he should get a free pass. I just want to know how much of this crap does it take to lower a character.

Yeah, Thor drilling that kid in the gut was crap. They just did it to put the avengers in a negative light so no side seems totally right or wrong. A good writer would be able to do that without butchering a character's established personality.
