Ares should be able to decimate that lineup, if MARVEL had any idea about how to properly represent godhood.

You yourself said it.
"Not sure if she count's as a god".

Why does this make you angry?

Because characters that carry the title "god" and are , for all intents and purposes, timeless manifestations and embodiments of entire material domains and immaterial concepts should be far above some simple metas.

Especially the the god of war.

Why would the physical avatar of an immaterial concept be so powerful?

The concept of war hardly ceased to exist after Ares was defeated.

Exactly. There are MULTIPLE War Gods, Death Gods, Thunder Gods, Skyfathers, etc.. in the Marvel Universe. Marvel actually had it right in the late 60s early 70s concerning the relationship between the various pantheons and their human worshipers but have since phucked it up beyond all recognition. Oh well.

Have these been posted? Spiderman...........owned :

Because it's supposed to draw power from the collective belief in it and use of it.

If Ares represented War in a universe where the Earth is in danger every week (Marvel) and global conflict exists in many different places, it would make sense for Ares to tap to that power. Like in DC.

But he doesn't.

Greek gods, like Asgardian ones, precede mankind.

Marvel's Ares doesn't draw his power from war. That's just how it is. Neither does Tyr it seems.

I know he doesn't and that's the point.
I think (and that's my opinion of course) he should.

Ares is the god of war in Marvel only in name.
He is just another long lived brick who likes to hit stuff.

Sad but true.

Marvel Ares is a sad sack of sh.t.

And that's how it is in Marvel 😛

Concepts and "gods" are separate.

You say it's better in DC, but there's no way in hell you can make a case that their gods are treated much better. Ares being connected to the concept of war didn't stop him from taking an axe to skull 😐

Savage Wolverine 7
Wolverine vs Shikaru the Wrathful - I actually LOLed.
Reminded me why I like Logan so much.

That was the only time Ares jobbed, which is no coincidence since Simone's Olympians where meh at best.
No now that I think of it she introduced the "Trek" uniforms, so yeah Simone's Olympians were kinda awful.
And it was revealed that it was part of Ares plan. In the same issue I believe.
He also was alive in spectral form, and only left the Amazons because Zeus banished him.

Apart from that I can certainly make a case they are treated better (in general).
Especially since you tried to use DC Are's only one ridiculous low.
Even in Countdown they were taken out of panel by another pantheon, not earthly metas.

Wolverine being taught a lesson :

Too bad it's a What if 😛

Lol Namor has quite the list of logan ownings brewing

Death or Oblivion didn't cease to exist after their avatars were defeated either. Nevertheless, their respective avatars are/were powerful as hell. Ares? Not so much...

Marvel Ares is shit in terms of power level. But as a character, he was done quite a bit of justice under Oeming and even Bendis. But I can see why people get the impression that in Marvel if you're not Asgardian, your pantheon is weak sauce. 😖hifty:

Speaking of which, Young Thor is phucking badass as all hell. Lmao @ him

Spoiler:
biting out Gorr's eyeball
Anyone who doesn't like the current Thor: God of Thunder series needs a lobotomy, tbh.

That's some lengths to go to just to acquire a taste for a comic... 😕

Next issue should be fun. Not sure how they survive the bomb based on this description:

Where is Odin.

It's a critically acclaimed (and not just by Thorbags) series and easily one of the best books published by either major company. Virtually everyone who's actually been following it, either from any of my LCSs or online, have had nothing but good things to say about it. In fact, the only people I know of who don't care for it are people of already suspect taste and intelligence.
