Writers conveniently shut down Thor's power all the time man. It's just something you learn to deal with.

He's nearly as versatile as Surfer, practically as strong Superman, arguably as skilled as Wonder Woman and has arguably the greatest damage soak around barring healing factors. If you start getting upset because Thor's not being written correctly, you'd walk around like World Breaker Hulk.

I would need to be a Thor fan for that though. Lucky that I am not, considering what you guys went through the last couple of years.

I am just genuinely curious as to why such things happen to a guy like Thor, especially during a time period when his character popularity is expanding out into the world.

Thor does use his skill against Hulk...Hulk rage is what tends to give him the advantage.

It's funny isn't it?

It seems like the more popular he gets, the more he gets jobbed out. It's fine for Superman as he's the unequivocal top dog in DC but in Marvel it's not as clear cut. For a long time, Thor was the definitive top dog at Marvel in power but since Quesada took over, and editorial oversight as well continuity went out the window, it's like any fanboy with a grudge can pimp him out. Also reverse ninja syndrome, being part of the Avengers ultimately has Thor being treated more often as cannon fodder.

If you're a fan of Surfer and are mad about all the beatings he's gotten, now's the time to write a script and have him rape Thor.

He's illustrated skill sometimes, but he almost always just brawls. Hulk punches him in the face, then Thor hits Hulk and they go back and forth until one drops.

Hulk's rage has proven to give him the advantage over Thor. While Thor's distracted with protecting civilians etc. Hulk uses it to his advantage and doesn't let up.

Ultimately different characters. Hulk at his core is meant to fulfill that adolescent rage and winning a fight is far more important to his base then Thor's I think as far as the higher ups are concerned. But that's just my speculation.

Lol, I am not really a fan of the Surfer either. And I doubt that the Surfer will ever be written one-uping Thor in a direct fight, even if in the same comic Thor gets jobbed to street-levellers who channel the power of supremely retarded PIS, and Surfer channels the same power of supremely retarded PIS to beat low Abstracts.

I doubt as well but if it was ever going to happen, now's the time imo. Hopefully it doesn't and Thor continues to make Surfer his b*tch.

Just imagine what might happen if a writer happens to be browsing this battleboard at thi very moment, and comes across your comment...

F*ck. A year from now, such a story comes out.....

Fair warning though, any writer who does this forfeits their life. And the lives of their family. I'm not even joking one bit. 😐

Pretty much this.

The fact that writers just simply have Thor not use anything bar his fists is way more annoying than the fact that he doesn't show off his martial skills.

Anybody remember how badly Thor schooled masterson? 😄

By that point, Masterson was hardly a noob either. Still, Thor gets pissed and it soon ends up being a brawl.

The only thing that Thor is missing is speed and recently, that has been played up. Don't know why writers are struggling to make this consistent. Dont see anything wrong with him creating after images, building things at super speed, evacuating a city at super speed, etc...he's a freaking god, not a normal god, a god of THUNDER. Marvel is retarded.

What's the point of Thor having that kind of super speed? As long as he's fast enough to react to speedsters and with Mjolnir able to maneuver like Superman/Gladiator/Hyperion etc. it's perfectly fine.

Thor doesn't need any more powers that will just be ignored. It would be nice for battle board debates I guess.

Why are people still claiming that he doesn't have Super-speed? Should be pretty much common knowledge at this point 😛

I don't want Thor to hop around people like some speedster, it'd just look weird. The way it was in the Masterson was perfect 🙂

Saying Thor needs speed is like saying Colossus needs to be herald level in strength. It adds absolutely nothing to the character.

He's not? 😮

Everybody keeps saying Namor is.

Not really true. We've seen Sif using skill effectively against Masterson, Valkyrie beat Hulk using pressure points, Hercules has taken on Elektra, Thor has kept up with Captain America, Wonder Woman and Orion have both shown to be incredibly potent hand to hand warriors etc.

The major difference is that Thor approaches the Hulk with almost nothing but pure strength and power. Can't really blame the writers, either Thor's a brute or he has to be noticeably weaker then Hulk (Such as when Hercules was getting wrecked but was hanging in due to skill) for their to be a fight. Otherwise it's going to be a domination, and Hulk isn't a throwaway villain like Abomination. As it stands, pressure points would probably not even work against the Hulk anymore tbh and I like Thor being an elite strong man.

Another thing, Thor beats the brakes off of the Bi-Beast, but Bi-Beast beats the Hulk every single time. I really don't understand this weird dynamic where Surfer treats the Hulk like a weak feeb, the Hulk gives Thor hell and yet Thor looks superior to the Surfer when they fight.

mmm

Look to the writers, and your questions shall be answered 🙂
