I know, just joking. JIA doesn't seem to answer me either, but I guess we can't all expect such close attention in the midst of thread spanning schisms.

He does answer himself a lot. 😆

Which is often the way in schisms.

Two Christians contradict eachother...what else is new ?

Regret and I didn't contradict each other. We both say that saved Christians still sin.

Agreed. In my experience with Baptists, not my knowledge of their beliefs, Baptists (as well as many born-again types) have told me that once saved they are unable to commit sin because the Holy Spirit will not allow them to. They then often qualify this by saying that if one of them does sin, that person was obviously not really born-again. My opinion is that being born-again, in the Biblical sense, does not deny them the ability to sin.

I used to be a Baptist, and IMO they can be the most evil people I have ever know. Maybe it is this arrogant idea that the Holy Spirit will stop you from sinning that is used as an excuse to get your way.

I have friends that are Baptist, but this view is one of the major things that causes me to withdraw my respect for their beliefs.

It only takes a small incorrect belief to corrupt a multitude of people.

This belief has corrupted an enormous group imo.

All this said. The Holy Spirit does HELP stop us from sinning, but it will not force us from doing it. Christians should, therefore, sin much less than non-believers. That is the belief that I hold.

If you have the holy spirit in you how can it stay if you sin?

The Holy Spirit is known as a guiding force in our lives and the instrument through which God uses us for His will. When we are tempted it reminds us of God's word and will.

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." 1 Corinthians 10:13
I really like this verse. It shows how the Holy Spirit delivers us from sin.

I like to think of it as conscience booster. However, it does not prevent us entirely from sinning.

Sorry, but I did not find that to be an answer to my question. Perhaps I asked it poorly. Please let me try again.

If you are filled with the Holy Spirit and are in candy store, and temptation overcomes you and you steal a piece of candy, even though the Holy Spirit tried to stop you, would the Holy Spirit leave you at the very moment?

I would see no reason why. God loves you and has grace on us sinners. Jesus died so that when we do stupid things like stealing, we can be forgiven.

The Holy Spirit is part of the trinity, and god cannot abide sin. If this is true, then who can the Holy Spirit stay in a human between the point of sin and forgiveness? After all, one is not forgiven automatically; you have to ask for forgiveness.

God did not commit the sin. Sin comes between us and God. I believe that everytime we sin that the voice of the Holy Spirit gets quieter and quieter because of this, but can be restored through repentance. Many Christians are entangled in sin and this is why they no longer obey the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they can no longer here it because so much sin is between them and God. You are right, repentance is needed for forgiveness, but the Holy Spirit will not leave in my experience and understanding.

Can only Christians have the Holy Spirit?

I would say so because it is a matter of accepting the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not just enter you as this would involve destroying your free will.

I was once a Christian and I learned about the Holy Spirit. I even felt the Holy Spirit, and I will prove it. This is what the Holy Spirit felt like; an inner piece that cannot be shaken, clarity of direction and purpose of life. Is that a correct description?
