So? Back to the racial slur analogy. If you say the N word to me, then EXACTLY the same to a black man, we both experienced you saying it.

What I can't know, is what it was like for the black man hearing it.

Not necessarily so..........I've been mistaken for both...Then you are treated as that.....along with light African American and Full Native American.......

Not a natural eskimo. Not a born eskimo. You just know what it's like for you, not for them. You know what it's like living in those conditions...FOR YOU. Not for them. You don't know what it's like to be one, unless you're born one.

What is so hard to grasp? Seriously?

But If I was born and raised as an eskimo but was of a different race, wouldn't I be an eskimo.

I dare you, seriously, to go into a cancer ward and say to the patient "I know what it's like because I've read about the symptoms and experience."

Please, just try that.

-AC

Empathy maybe?

I do sympathise with the people who are marginalised because I have been in the same position.

I empathise with black people because i know what it is like to be marginalised - i havent been marginalised in the same group as them, but I have been marginalised.

Actually the most nonsensical comment I've seen yet.

If you are BORN an eskimo, then you will know what it's like to be a born eskimo, won't you? If not, you won't. Ever.

Were you born a man? If so. Will you ever know what it's like to be a woman?

But if two blackmen were called nigg*r would they know how each other feels?

Thus, taking all your arguments into account, you can't come anywhere near doing either of the above - since you havent lived through either.

give examples of how you were marginalised.

This is interesting to me........why do they say the N word to each other, but it is NOT OK for anyone else to say it......... Always was curious about that..........Hey I've been called Wasp, wop, and it doesn't bother me one bit...........god I even hear jokes......."What doesn an Italian car say when it has a flat tire?....It goes wop wop wop wop."..........I think I spelled it wrong though..........see how much I care.....I don't..........

Methinks it is the same as saying Caucasian, but I've been brought up as it being a racial slur.

Thoughts?

Its spanish for black, 😑 Its just calling someone black in a different language.

That's fine, I never disputed that you could sympathise with those who have suffered racism. If you have, that's truly not good and I sympathise with you.

The point is, you can't know what it's like to be a black person on the receiving end of racism, or be a black person in general.

So then you can simply relate to being marginalised. We established this.

Wherein did you deduce that you had a much bigger right to speak on black people suffering racism, than me then? Being in a minority doesn't work, because you are only one minority, you're not *Insert your minority* and also black, and also asian. You know what it's like to be a single marginalised minority. You can only ever say "I know what it's like to be marginalised." Not "I know what it's like to be marginalised as a black person."

I've experienced racial slurring, a great many times. I can relate to what it's like to be called racist names. Just like you can relate to a black person being called racist names.

Can I relate to what it's being a female of your ethnicity, being marginalised? No. No more than you can relate to a black person suffering it.

As for the rest of your post -

no, why dont you address the whole post, since you were clearly being elitist, belittling and insulting based on your apparent delusion of intellectual superiority to all americans. and isnt singling out a whole group of people as being beneath your feet related to the topic anyway? (unless of coarse they have the cash to go across seas to your clearly superior university, which would imply a classist attitude)

No, because they don't know what it's like to be each other.

I know black people who laugh when someone calls them that, it rolls off the back. I know black people who find it terribly offensive. It's a totally different experience.

Point being, as much as you can relate to something, you will never BE that something. So no, not "good one". Lame, tried and tested one, is more like it.

Yes, and as I've said a million and one times, that doesn't equate to being one.

What will it take?

Why?
So I could prove something to you because you cannot imagine what it is like to be an ethnic minority?

I don't have to prove myself to you or anyone else anymore. I've been doing that for the past 10 years.

The whole idea of you asking me to tell you how i've been humiliated and marganalised based on where I come from and who my parents are, dissapoints me beyond comprehantion.
If it came from AC I wouldn't be too offended, I heard worse things come from his posts...but you? Come on man...I thought you had a bit more respect for me than that.

But whatever...people are like that in real life anyway...

I don't think it's fair to say they, growing I was used to word nigga alot we didn't say nigg*r ( I guess there's supposes to be a difference) it was a word that referred to a person where I lived as I got older I began to see controversy in that word, my friends and I still use that word, I don't really care if someone of a different "race" Say's it because if I can say it why can't they, So It's not fair to say they it depends on the individual.

So if I'm raised as an eskimo since birth I'm not an eskimo, how?

Must be said, AC, it's a bit bloody rich you trying to compare you being called the odd racist name with being part of a generally attacked minority.

Frankly, yes, Lil has far more of a right to speak intelligently on the subject than you. You have never been part of a marginalised group. She has, and she has studied it, and before you spew out more garbage aboput that counting for nothing- don't bother. Academic study has real value, those who try and decry it are either jealous or stupid.

You do if you wish to be taken seriously, this is a debate. So full of stats, yet when it comes to the crunch, no books to help you are there?

Did it not occur to you that people might lose respect for you, like I did (because I did respect your "intelligence" once), when they discover you are a hypocritical, contradictory trivialiser who can't back it up beyond a certain point?

Did you ever think that it might actually be you, who is the catalyst for this loss or respect?

And debbiejo??

BTW........I never use those slang words and find them offensive myself against others......I know about the Detroit riots in the 60's....the feelings are still there like the other words used like "Spooks, darkies, afro heads."....Never liked them.
