Racially Insensitive, Racist, Or Not?

no, it destroys your logic, how can a comparison between two species be similar to a comparison of individuals of the same species?

You are lecturing me on logic? Miss "If I lived like an eskimo I'd know what it's like to actually be one."? Funny.

How can you compare? Because it's not the subject matter that is important, it's the idea. You, in a defeated haze, overlook that.

If two eskimo's lived two diffrent lives, by your logic they could understand each others lives.

They would both know what it's like to be born an eskimo, yes. What it's like to be an eskimo. Not what it's like living in different conditions, but that's irrelevant.

They would both know what it's like to be an actual eskimo. You wouldn't, unless you were born one.

You skipped a lot of my post, like the part where I proved that no matter how well you replicate something, you are never going to be IT. You will always be a replica. Same with studying black Americans. You will never be one, nor will you know what it's like to be, unless you are one.

How many more times? At least give me a number so I can say it in one post.

I can compare because I've lived there life "EXACTLY" how would I not know???

It's very relevant, it proves someone of a same race can not understand one's plight, while someone of a different "RACE" can.

And you ignored mines, I never said you can be exactly 100% like someone, I said you can know how it feels.

no you dont. i've had many black friends. many friends who have experienced racism. but i assure you i have no idea what it feels like to be called a n____. all you can know is facts and figures. you dont know how it feels to be someone you are not.

If I call you a Nigg*r you won't know how it feels to be called one?

Though in some circumstances you can....Me myself am olive complected and I get stopped going across the Canadian border because of middle Eastern problems.......And I'm 1/2 Italian......so, in some regards a person can..

Compare. You don't know what it's actually like to be an actual eskimo, just by copying one, do you? No. What's hard to grasp?

Which is irrelevant. The point is this: Does she know more about what it's like to be a black American than anyone else here? No. Why? She's not one. Studying them for a decade won't make it so.

Her reasoning: "I am of a minority, I can relate." Yes, to being a minority, not to being a black American.

You can't, you can have an idea, an accurate one. A pinpoint one, it will never be the same. Why? Because we all experience things differently, react to things differently, think and feel differently.

Not too sure why this has to be explained to a human over 13.

They call each other that though.

no. ill know the awkward feeling of being white and being called a n___.
nothing more. please dont tell me this is over your head.

I'm not an Eskimo, but I would know how it feels to live like one and be one because I 've been raised exactly like one.

I never said I can be one, I said be like one the key word is "like". I may not an Eskimo but I can be like one if I have similar experience and lifestyle.

But you would still no what it feels like to be called that word, because You were called it. the effect maybe different but you would "KNOW" what it's like to be called that word why is that so hard to grasp?

Another interesting thing I just thought of is when my brother came back from Japan with a jacket for me.....now it must of had some Japanese gang emblem on it because I was certainly stared at and ridiculed about it when going down the street....finally I had to take it off.....so people can get a taste of what it might be like.....they don't like it, but never can really experience the full affects of it.....

See, I could take the Jacket off.........Races can not take their races off.

lets just assume you're telling the truth and you were raised like an eskimo. fine then.

but the point made was: would you know what its like to be an eskimo just by reading about what its like?

So you'd know what it's like to be raised like an eskimo. You said it yourself. Raised LIKE one. Like, like, like.

You will never know what it is like to genetically be an eskimo.

Precisely. Like, not "are" or "am".

You can damn sure be like one, you can never be one. Ergo, you'll never know what it's like to actually be one. Only what it's like to be like one.

Is this really beyond you?

Oh my.

It's not hard to grasp. A white man will know what it's like to be called the N word, so will a black man, but the white man will never know what it's like for the black man.

Let's see if that one works.

Nobody cares about what I'm saying do they?? 😕 I have valid points.

Reading about something and experiencing something are two different things.

Your points are similar to PVS and alpha, because someone is physically different they can't share similar experiences and relate is not true.

good point
but many races can disguise their ethnicity...accept of coarse for dark skinned people and especially most african americans.

Why do you have a problem with things being different? If they're different you immediately retreat into "YOU CAN'T COMPARE!"

Seeing as you said it though. Experiencing and reading about are two different things.

Just like relating to and living through.

thats wrong though. when an eskimo goes into a town, he's still an eskimo. you're just another white dude (assuming you're white of coarse..and a dude)
