There are three factors you forget.

1. Protective suits.

2. Mutants are tougher than baseline humans. They are at least less susceptible to catch diseases (are immune to AIDS as I recall) so they might well be a bit harder to hurt physically as well.

3. Everyone in comics (also an average Joe on the street) is tougher than humans in real life.

* then what's the basis of "human" durability? πŸ˜• 😐

* also, i don't remember any protective suit when he was slapped by a sentinel...

Whatever the story (or a cool scene) needs it to be.

I meant that his durability was determined by the needs of the story in the Sentinel scene.

Wolverine:

"The kid's name is Scott Summers. My 'kid' I'm talking about the mutant with the ruby quartz visor...You wouldn't know it to look at Summers. but he may be one of the most powerful mutants on the face of the planet. Not just 'cause of the optic blast he developed in his teens. That's impressive and all, sure- the guy can damn near punch a hole in a mountain just by starin' at it. But no, his real power has got nothin' to do with his mutant abilities. The guy's a leader- a natural born a leader as there ever was. Like his namesake, Cyclops he sees the world in a singular vision; Heroes win Villians lose. In his world where everything is tinted red, he still manages to see things in black and white. Yeah, I've been known to give him a hard time- maybe more than once-but even an old warhorse like me knows a leader when I see one. And this Scott Summers, the guy in change of the X-men? I'd follow him into Hell if he said he needed me."
- from X-men 112

When i find the Nick Fury one i'll post it...

* what did Nick Fury think of Scott Summers? πŸ™‚

sorry, i meant to post it, just a sec...

edit: here it is:

Secret War - From The Files Of Nick Fury:

he's very critical, but the good stuff, imo, more than makes it worthwhile...

* he's "rejected"? and too reliant to his team? 😐

in fairness, he was only rejected because of his unwillingness to kill and his association with emma...

and he is more of a team player than the likes of wolverine...

* the starter statements are A-okay... but the latter seemed leaning towards negative... Fury implies Cyke's leadership in X-men is his limit, wtf?! 😐

i can see what you mean, but you have to remember, fury wouldn't know cyclops the way we do... his impression of cyke is the same way most outsiders see him, as a great leader but not much else...

i'm just glad fury sees him as that good a leader...

* i just hope that, that s.h.i.e.l.d. file does not mean Marvel also see Cyke the way Fury sees him... 😐
