Gears of War

About the difficulties...I just beat campaign on insane. Granted there were instances were I died more times than I can count it wasn't really that hard. It was just annoying. It's no where near as cheap as Halo 2's legendary. Beat it co-op though, Dom and your squad tend to have suicidal feelings on insane if you play by yourself and that can be a bit tedious. The hardest parts in Insane are when you and Dom(your co-op partner) get split up and you can't revive each other so a death ends the game automatically.

You died more times than you count, but it wasnt that hard?

Huh?

Innerrise, you seem to answer alot of questions about this game, considering you dont own it yet or have an XBOX 360? hahaha

im playing it on hardcore and its pretty hard. my friend that im playing it with is retarded when it comes to videogames which probably makes it harder than having someone whos as good as you but still. usually when i die its not because its cheap though, its becuase i put my head out when i shouldnt have.

I just started on Hardcore and I must say why does Dom decide to rush the locust only to die within him taking 3 steps towards them.

to make it that much harder for you

I fail to see why he needs to become dumber when the AI has about 100% accuracy.

it definitely doesnt make it any more fun.

Online with XBOXLIve is pretty sweet. I like how you can play any game there is without worrying about anything. My only complaint that its not like PC online. Hosts run the games, and they can pretty much do anything they want. It's somewhat annoying getting kicked because you died alot in the first round. What else is annoying is that playing Gears Of War, I find it hard joining games because I always get the "failed to connect to host" message. Maybe Im doing somethign wrong, but its cool noneless, but just not as good as PC.

Not all games have hosts... thats all up to the developers. For instance one reason why Halo 2s online was so great was because there were no hosts... you simply clicked what type of match you wanted to play in and based on how good your rank is, you would automatically play with a specific group of people matched with your abilities. Its impossible to get kicked out and usually the games would be more fun because there was no one who was ridiculously better than you.

That's cool.

I still dont like Live over PC.

I liked PC's lack of voice communication. If you had one for PC, you really wanted to use it for team games. But on XBOX, it just guys screaming and yelling and calling everybody shit.

It hurts my feelings.blushing

Anyways, I love to play some online with ya guys...the name is Smasandian (big surpraise)

You can always mute a person or people. 😉

I have some interesting news for you guys.

I got the latest issue of PC Gamer in the mail yesterday, and their cover story for the issue is the upcomming windows vista OS and the new marketing strategy MS has for PC games.

Anyways, they showed a display that would be in stores in the future, with the revamped "Games for Windows" packaging on a lot of games. One of the games shown on the display was a Games for Windows edition of Gears of War.

A big hint, and probably early giveaway that Gears of War certainly IS coming to the PC in the future.

Would yall rebuy the game for PC then?

anata wa wakarimasu ka.....

I wouldn't.

Wow, I thought they wouldnt.

My question, would it work with keyboard and mouse?

But I wouldnt rebuy it for the PC.

Sure it would work. Just make the spacebar the "do all" button, would work fine.

Yeah I guess....to me it seems not as good as the controller.

on what level

Just on the default difficulty level it's on when you turn on the game. Why. The harder difficult levels are the same thing save for the fact that it either just takes more shots to kill a grub or more of them emerge or both.

Took you four days to beat it? You're a wuss.

I disagree on a couple of points you made about Half Life 2. I don't like comparing games, but I don't think Half Life 2's faster. Then again that depends on what you mean with faster. If you mean hardcore non-stop action than I disagree 100% with you. Graphically I don't compare them since I only played the toned down X-box version of the game, but even if HL2 on high end PCs looks better than GOW that still doesn't take away GOW's impressive visuals. GOW has raised the standard for what console games should/must look like.Gameplay wise they're 2 different games, and eventhough the Gravity Gun is fun as hell I enjoyed taking cover, fanking etc. more. Now there's one thing GOW has definitely over HL2 and that's the sound effects and the soundtrack.

I don't really care if one game is better than the other, I have both, I love both, but right now I'm playing GOW non-stop and I don't see me stop playing it anywhere in the near future.

Currently in act 4 on insane. The reviewers claimed beating the game on insane would be a feat on par with halo 1 & 2's legendary, but not quite.

haha; fortunately since i have a life, beating the game didn't happen as fast for me as it did for you.

Imo, I believe Half Life 2 is the best FPS on PC. I also considered G.O.W. a killer app. ie. the game that defines the 360. (even thought after beating it so fast, i now look at it as a second tier game) Those credentials, along with a couple of others, gave me the need to compare the 2. On top of which both games remind me of each other for some untold reason.

The games are not entirely different, if you look at it from the correct side of the prism.

With G.O.W. I kinda felt the same emotional connection I felt with HL2 meaning graphically, gameplay-wise and it's characters but the feeling was more intense with HL2. It's almost unexplainable; it's a feeling i've never felt with any other game, but it's just my opinion. And imo, the 2 are indeed comparable and HL2 is better. And since the 360 is the hottest console out and the PC's hottest game is HL2, just right there is enough ground for a comparative analysis between the 2, to me.

i love when people play a game on the easy setting and then go on about how its too easy.

beat it on insane, then come back and brag about how the game is so easy. if i didnt find you completely annoying i would send you a friend invite so i could curb stomp your ass on live and show you who your daddy is...oh well 😬
