It might be a step below Gears Of War, but I still think Half Life 2 is one of the better looking games out there, especially now with Episode 1 & 2.
I played Lost Coast a couple of days ago, and it still looks breathtaking. I still havent played a game where the NPC's looks soo good with facial animations.
so ya.. my friend bought it and we played through most of the SP campaign...from the stunning visual quality to the intelligence and persistence of the AI, I was the most entertained I have been in a while
I have to say... they did steal alot of ideas from different games
but they do them all right! 😱
the wall hugging (from WinBack / MGS ) has been given a new strongpoint since it was originally brought into the game universe, via ways to 'dismount' from your current location by either rolling to a new cover area, or charging over your 'wall' to take the fight to the enemy
the 'super shots' / reload bar is a great idea that I havent seen elsewhere... as well as Blind Fire (my faaaaavorite aspect of the game)
and I absolutely love the crouching sprint >_<!
Fave Wep : Chainsaw Bayonette (yes... a typical choice.. but ohhh the bloodspray... *shiver*)
Least-Fave Wep : Torque Bow ..
-it takes quite a pull to get it started..
-sometimes I wind up hitting something in the foreground..
-sometimes I chose to shoot the arrow near an enemies location, only to find out that the explosion isnt big enough to make them run from it..
-the lack of a scope option.. as this bow can shoot very far, youll find yourself praying you pin it dead on, since the confirming dot at the end of the shot tracer will be too far away to see
the plus side of the torque bow?.. blind fire of course 😄
simply a must have for X360... I dont even need to play halo 3 to know GoW kills it already
For those having trouble beating the campaign on hardcore just find a buddy to help you out co-op. My problem with hardcore while I played by myself was that Dom was too dumb. He didn't know what cover was and he basically ran at every locust he found just to die. Made it to the end of act 3 by myself but when Theron Guards showed up Dom just kept on dying and in some cases his death automatically ended my game.
Is anyone planning on playing Multiplayer tonight?
F.E.A.R. is awesome. I got it yesterday. My life will be non-existant once Smackdown vs Raw 2007 and Rainbow Six Vegas come out...those 2 plus GOW and FEAR...well Bye Bye social life hello 5 pounds.

I gotta agree with ya. The Torque Bow...I used it once, and didn't like it. However it's effective if you know how to use it. While I was playing Co-Op online with a friend he used the TB and he was nasty with it. I also found a couple of nasty players using the TB in multiplayer. Of course it was satisfactory to get them from behind and chainsaw their asses, but that's another story.
In SP, I use it against Boomers. One shot and they're dead.
That's pretty much all I use it for.
In MP, I've seen one guy use the bow and he kept on shooting at me when I was covered. Funny thing though, is that it seems that with the bow and its dot, people stand in spot, so I picked up an sniper rifle that was right near my feet and I waited until he let go the bolt, and I turned around while he was aiming again and blew his head off.
Look at that. I already beat G.O.W. last night; 4 days after i picked it up.
Half Life's better. Graphically. Gameplay-wise, it's longer, faster and just a better game overall than G.O.W. is.
G.O.W.'s graphics look good at a glance. Half_Life 2's graphics look good even when directly looking at the details.
Well, after hours and hours of gameplay and eating cold pizza with lots of coffee and Cola. I finally have put the game down and taking a HUGE break. Wow! Simply WOW!!!!! No contest...this is defenetly a GOTY candidate...heck! I'll go as far as saying winner of GOTY 2006.
I haven't try the online game. But the Co-op is friggin sweeeet! I had a buddy of mine come in an check it out. We started playing on Saturday at 5:00 pm and stop playing Sunday Morning at 4:00pm. We were beat and exhausted. Mostly me because I been playing it since I got it.
I can see this game is establishing it's own video game mythology. It's just so reminiscent of Halo's debut back in 2001. People are buying the console just to play the game. A good example is my friend whom I mention earlier. He's buying his own Xbox 360 this coming friday. Just like him there are others planning to do the same. I was reading some blogs and practically they're all agree.
The game has completely drained me. I'm exhausted and I didn't feel like coming to work today (despited my recent vacation) Love it and it's hard not thinking about it.
We're witnesses to a new franchise. The Gears of War Hype is well deserved I'm really looking to see what would RARE will come out in the future.
I love my Collectors Edition worth every penny IMO. Defenetly a classic for years to come.
I really don't review games but if this was a movie. I would no doubt reward Gears of War a score of
5 out of 5
btw-I'm going to trade my Axe for one of those Chainsaw Bayonets. OOOoohhh YEAH!
