lol thought we would be disagreeing on everything there for a short while.

Personally can't say I agree with a lot of people saying that as long as Bisping weathers the storm in the first he should win the decision. I mean, its not like Belfort is particularly known for gassing in his fights as far as I know. And skillwise Bisping is absolutely no match for him. He lost a decision to an over the hill Wanderlai, was losing on points against Henderson before the KO, even against Mayhem Miller he was getting arguably outstruck in the first round of the fight. He's by no means even close to being an elite fighter, and with questionable chin and striking defence I think Vitor destroys him in the first for sure.

Also I of course noticed you have Rory beating BJ Penn, but let's just say, hypothetically, BJ Penn is in shape for this fight (which he definitely appears to be) and has the cardio for all 3 rounds, do you still stand by that prediction? BJ Penn completely outclassed Matt Hughes and Jon Fitch (that is until he gassed), arguably the second and third WW GOATs, fought GSP to a split decision in their first fight which a lot of people thought he should have won, was doing ok in the first round against GSP in the second fight, he was also outclassing Nick Diaz in the first round of their fight as well (hell he freaking fought Lyoto Machida to a close decision in an openweight bout). Take cardio out of the equation, he destroys Rory imo, and I truly believe he is in the best shape he has ever been at WW for the upcoming fight.

Bisbing starts out slow, it takes him a while to find his range and figure out his opponents timing. Alternatively Vitor is the most dangerous in round one and he swarms if he creates an opening and finishes. There is a good chance that Vitor finishes it in the first, but I think Bisbing weather's the storm, finds his timing and uses his superior foot work and head movement to stay on the outside and take a decision. Wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong though.

I'm not buying what BJ is selling this time. Maybe he'll come in prepared and be the best BJ we've seen in years... but I'm skeptical. The guy is a crazy talent but he never took training seriously... dude did half days and went surfing when he was getting ready for GSP. He talks a good game, like he always does... but he looked exactly the same at the weigh ins. I think it's too little too late for BJ, at least at welter weight. BJ will take the first, like always does regardless of his cardio because he is a monster... but I think Rory is going to ragdoll him for the rest of the fight. If by some miracle prime BJ crawls out of grave and shows up tomorrow... well that would be a sight to behold.

Wow, Ricci destroyed Magney with that elbow. Shit.

Main card is about to start!

Anybody else think this is the best card of the new decade so far?

IMO the big ones are this, UFC 129, UFC 136, and UFC 152.

wtf BJ...

You're right. Maybe he'll fight and stay undefeated until he dies. uhuh

.....completely forgot about UFC tonight. Have to watch tomorrow, and maybe comment on Mortis's rankings.

Didn't get all the methods right, but all my guesses for the card to night were right except I thought Mike Easton would win.

That's how GSP vs Nick Diaz will go down, only more lop sided.

Damn Nate got completely outclassed. TBH I knew that there was a strong likelihood that Benson would dominate but I had this weird feeling Nate was going to get the submission (adn who knows, maybe one time out of every five he would). He has a habit of letting himself get caught in deep submissions because he's so good at getting himself out of them, and I thought it would backfire against someone of Nate's calibre. I did actually expect Nate's boxing game to be completely neutralised though, with Benson's kicks, wrestling and fight smarts, so that wasn't too suprising. I was really impressed by Benson's hand speed and GnP.

Having watched Shogun - Gustaffson I'm convinced Gus has absolutely nothing to offer Jones. He showed some major holes in his striking defence (look at his height, the fact that Shogun was telegraphing those strikes and that they weren't exactly lightning fast either, and they were landing) and I believe he has pretty lackluster grappling. That being said, I was crazy impressed with his chin this fight, with a weaker chin Shogun would have probabl finished him at some point i the fight. Regarding Shogun, in a way he showed some admirable qualities in the fight (you have to admrie his toughness and he has an impressive Jiu-Jitsu fight) but the truth of the matter is that physically, after the three kneee surgeries, he's no longer the same athlete he once was, he doesn't really fight a very technical striking fight any more (in fact in this fight he was more one dimensional then ever with the striking, throwing virtually no kicks, and telegraphing all his strikes), he showed deficiencies in his fitness and cardio and Gustaffson was the much bigger man. I think on the merits of his toughness and Jiu-Jitsu and in general his skills, that he is probably still a top 15 fighter but I don't think he will ever be truly elite again.

I don't even want to talk about the BJ fight. Kinda depressing to watch, similar to when I watched Jones-Shogun. BJ should really drop back down to lightweight where he can remain competitive at the higher levels (though even then I'm now thinking I wouldn't be so surprised if someone like Bendo dominated him). Not to take anything away from Rory, and he was the much bigger guy, but BJ had little to offer in the stand up and seem to break way too early in the fight and way too easily.

I'd have to see the fight again to be sure, but I got the impression Gus was rolling most of those over hand rights off his shoulder.

More so later in the fight, but some were definitely landing.

Also, not sure if this is true, but apparently Bendo fought that entire fight with a toothpick in his mouth lol.

That's what Rogan was saying. 😆

He actually just confirmed it on the post fight press conference.

Good job Diaz can't anyone who knows how to strafe I guess. 😄

Yeah I think Diaz's boxing skills may have been exposed a little from here on, especially by Condit. All it takes is a good kicking game, a good wrestling game, or a smart footwork game to neutralise it it seems. Also going into the fight I was starting to think that Nate was the better of the Diaz brothers, but now I'm not so sure.

To be fair though Bendo probably was the absolute worst stylistic matchup for Nate at LW. Powerful wrestler with powerful kicks and athletic motion, and godly submission defence. I still think he's top 5.

I think the only LW with a chance against Bendo now is Gray Maynard, and of course Aldo or Frankie if they move up, or BJ if he moves down. Maybe Melendez. Looking at the veyr top of LW though I think people have overrated the weight class a little. It lacks a lot of good wrestlers/defencive wrestlers with technical stirking at the upper levels.

Also, naturally I'm going to have to take BJ out of my top 5 WW, push everyone else up one place, and put in Koscheck at 5.

Sadly I was at work and forgot to DVR the event.
I few suprises for me. Brown taking out Swick didn't really take me by surprise,it was the way he won which shocked me.
Edwards and Stephens took me completely though.

Hopefully, he gets fined, suspended, and has his title stripped.

After having seen it,

Nate loses to a good wrestler like Benson? Surprise surprise. 🙄

BJ turns into a one dimensional punching bag? Surprise surprise. 🙄

Why is Shogun turning into a brawler now?

Benson's calmness is eery, but I love seeing Nate lose, especially when it looks like his opponent isn't even thinking about the fight.

Loved the leg punches.

Yeah, the third one actually stumbled Nate, and he mixes it up with an overhand on the fifth.

The best part is when Nate taunts Bendo and Bendo knocks him on his ass.

It's so fun watching the Diaz bros get beat up. 😄

Makes you appreciate how good Frankie is that he gave Benson two really good fights, arguably winning the most recent of the two, while being so much smaller.
