Chicago

Strengths: Decent offense. Jones and Benson provide a very good RB tandem. Good defense. Tommie Harris is a beast, and Ogunaldfnldflasdf is another beast. LB core is great and somewhat decent secondary, will miss Mike Green though

Weaknesses: Rex Grossman, I feel is really overrated. He looked like garbage against the powerhouse, the 49ers. WR core is alright, but not special. Muhammed is on the decline.

Prediction: 9-7

Botunkus, why dont we just do what we did last year. Predict where everybody is going, rushing leader, MVP's and playoffs....and then try to get everybody else into it, so we can have some sort of contest?

Like GB The Bears have 11 very winnable games, with an even better chance than GB has. Also that D will prolly get them a game or 2 of the games with the harder opponents. I think 10-6. NFC North guys just have such easy schedules.

It's nice, and a good idea that The Glendale Arena is indoors, considering that here in Phoenix triple digits can linger until 10 pm. shock

It looked like a nice stadium on TV. Do the rafters and I-beams get in the way when they open the dome? They had it closed on Saturday.

Okay, Smas, let's do it again. Since I'm doing this weird team-of-the-day thingamajigee, why don't you get the categories together? And it's Botankus. 😂

Grossman's the sh*t...and I'm not even a Bears fan.

Anyway, that unofficial "contest" sounds fun. MVP's and such are fun to predict.

Grossman's the shit if your on the other team...hahaha.

I can see Griese being the starter soon.

Ill set it up tonight...and then post my projections here, and then keep a tally in a spread shit.

i actually think grossmans gota shot at being good. But I do think they need to commit to benson or jones and trade the other one to get grossman some help at WR. Adrian Peterson isnt bad either so with him and whoever is left theyd still have a nice run game.

I must be content to sit and watch my Vikings self destruct for another season.

Another Vikings fan? 😱

not 2 of you... hey you at least have the poopiest division ever so ull still have a shot of getting to the playoffs to be destroyed by someone else.

everyone say hooray for koren robinson. caught doing over 100 mph in a 50 mph zone. also found to be drunk at the time. can anyone say a one year suspension.

Nah, off the field issues dont warrent suspensions. The Bengals players have done alot worst.

No they said if it is considered his third offense it could be a 1 year suspension.

really...hmm i didnt know that.

This is a game me and Botunkus played....(take that muther****er) hahaha, last year.

This is how it goes....
Predict from Order of Finish, Playoffs and Superbowl, Defensive MVP, Offensive MVP, Rookie of the Year Offensive, Rookie of the Year Defensive, and leading rusher.

It goes

For an total of 71 points ( I know I know, its not even, but **** you)

Yes I let my home team bias influence this but how could I not..

I really wanted Miami to take the division but the schedule just favors NE so much.

Vinateiri will be the way Indy trumps NE and it will be funny.

ROY: offensive is soooo wide open. Marooney, DeAngelo, White could all end up carying a big load and 2 of them for big time contenders. Vernon Davis is just a freak athlete and Alex Smith would be stupid to not give him the ball all day every day. If DeAngelo takes over in the first 2-3 games Ill give it to thim though. Althouh Reggie Bush is prolly the safest and most popular bet.

I had the same problem. I took Dallas to conference....I'm soo going to get screwed.

I think Davis might get it, but I think Bush will have too much stats to warrent the pick. Most TE's dont go over 1000, no matter how good they are, especially with Gore and Bryant looking alright...and dont forget Eric Johnson, a pretty good TE also.

But I can see Davis doing it.

Also, I wouldnt be surpraised if Ernie Sims comes close also. The game I saw him play, he was explosive and had a little mean streak. But again, its preseason.

I'm having trouble staying awake today, so I thought I'd shift it over to the AFC for today's pick.

Denver

Remember when Tommy Maddox got hurt in week 2 of 2004, and the Big Ben era began? Well, all the pieces are in place for the man I believe to be a truly great successor. I'm talking about Jay Cutler. I saw him play a little at Vanderbilt (when their sorry-asses were actually on TV), and that guy's got some tools. Throws hard, accurate, great size, pocket presence, and played for the Commodores????

If that doesn't happen this year, not to worry, for once again we have a please-step-up and run for 1,000 yards Broncos offense. The Texans will be trying to copy it with Kubiak, so maybe that could be an unmentioned reason why they never drafted Reggie Bush.

Back to Denver. So far free agent Mike Bell is #1 on the depth chart, which doesn't offer much confidence for Taco Bell and Ron "The Dumptruck" Dayne. Doesn't matter. Throw in Cedric Cobbs and you'll get production. Now with those receivers, Walker is ready to play, and you know Rod Smith is going to still give it his all, but I like Kircus better than I like Watts. Darius played scared last year, and when you play scared, you tend to overdo everything. From what I've seen of Kircus, I think he's going to fit in better.

Remember those recent years when the Broncos got whalloped by their namesake junior (the Colts) in the playoffs? Finally, they got fed up and aimed high, and that's when they drafted Foxworth and Williams and traded for Bailey. Now those pieces are in place for the secondary, and I think the LB core is the 3rd best in the league (I like 3-4 if you know how to use it, but 4-3 is fine in their case), behind SD and PGH. Again, can't wait to see Cutler in action, but I at least hope it's after Nov. 5!

Prediction: 11-5 , wildcard (div. losers to KC in tiebreaker)

Denver

Roughly what Botankus said. A very much improved team.

Smas, I was at least hoping you'd take the Coors Light angle in your analysis of this team.

Don't worry, folks. As promised, on every Friday we will be reviewing one of the big boys, and tomorrow will not disappoint. And no, it ain't Seattle.
