YouTube videoYou're welcome, guys.
Not available for viewing in my country, ass.
Fix this at once.
I hear you're led by a benevolent god-king.
I pose this question to RH and maybe Gideon, Nai and Janus if they come here anymore. Alternatively I can post this on Janus' forum but nobody ever goes there. Anyways, what do you think is more prevalent in today's world: homophobia or anti Semitism? And why? I ask this question because recently NBA player Jason Collins came out as gay and I didn't have a problem with it, I had a problem with the spectacle of him coming out and the media blowing up over it. Hopefully my ignorant days are gone and I just want to understand the other side before formulating an argument or what not. I am of the personal belief that your bedroom antics should stay private. I don't think most people care what their friends or teammates do in the bedroom so to come out publically and in an ESPN issue no less, seems like overkill. What am I missing?
Well you know there's the whole Muslim vs Jew thing in the middle east, which is called Anti-Semitism.
Although not sure why there's a word that's deemed really bad for hating Jews but no such word exists for hating any other religions.
I think it's because Jews are classified as a race so that technicality makes it closer to Racism.
Anti-semitism isn't as big now as it was before. Anti-Semitism is like a "celebrity hate" thing, in the sense that hating jews is something a lot of people make jokes about, or talk about. But in reality, the majority of people (in America at least), don't really give a shit about jews. Most people don't meet a jewish person and get uncomfortable. Hell, most people don't even recognize a jew when they see one, or make a distinction. In America, if someone introduces themselves as "Mr. Roskowitz", your first thought isn't "omg, it's a jew". Jews are just one more brand of white person.
Homophobia is different, though. When someone is obviously gay, or they come out, that notion sticks with a lot of people. It's something they'll remember about you, like it's one of your defining traits or something.
In the Middle East, anti-semitism can be pretty strong, yeah. But so is homophobia, and while anti-semitism is far less common outside of the ME, homophobia isn't.
