His whole character is a joke.

Anyway, this review is pretty spot on:

Even at its best, the Clone Wars fails.

Not really, since he's a Sith Pureblood in the Sith Empire, so it makes at least some sense for him to just straight-up have a Sith name from the start.

How does it make sense for him to have a name like Scourge since he is a pureblood?

Other Sith names were pretty cool like Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow, and even Tenebrae. Scourge isn't similar to any of those and is honestly laughable bad.

Yeah, Savage Opress is pretty bad. But, like I said earlier, it is pronounced differently from the actual word.

No denying he is a bad character though.

All the other Sith with names like Bane, Sidious or Vader etc. sounded cool, like they were giving up their old identity for a name reflecting their nature and destiny. But they had normal sounding names before that. Scourge just sounds silly. Like he was born and his parents called him little baby Scourge who's going to grow up and be a big old Sith Lord, aren't you Scorugy, aren't you? Who's my wittle Scourge?

Savage Oppress is no better, but yeah at least they tried to pronounce it differently.

lmao @ Neph defending Scourge's name.

They're both shitty names. I remember reading a funny remark that Savage Opress was chosen because Badguy McKillspeople was copyrighted.

😐 That Tyrannus = Dooku isn't a mystery to us. That it's a mystery to the Jedi is hardly a plot hole. That they don't investigate it further on-screen is simply a product of its irrelevance to the narration, because we know the answer, and we know that the Jedi couldn't possibly have figured out Dooku's sith name.

👆

I knew I liked you.

...but that Jango Fett stands next to Dooku in AotC, and follows his orders, sort of gives the clone-droid-interconnected-conspiracy away.

👇

Fett is a mercenary. Him standing next to Dooku is mildly suspicious at best, hardly a conclusive link between the Sith, the droids, and the clones.

Might as well say that Dooku, being an ex-Jedi, ties the droids, clones, and the Sith together to the Jedi.

He's a Sith so its like, might as well just give him a Sith name already since he's gonna get one anyway.

He probably makes good points, but I couldn't stomach listening to him whine about how the show shits on the EU, so I moved on.

Like, people care about the EU? It's basically all non-canon anyway.

I care.

The changes were stupid and unnecessary. The whole thing with a random group of Zabraks being on Dathomir was non-sensical and headscratching, as is the retcon of Ventress species and origin. All to milk Maul and create a shittier clone of him with the worst name ever. Plus the whole thing with Dooku betraying Ventress is thinly justified as all hell.

Maul and Ventress were both better serviced as a result of those changes. No one gives a shit.

No they're not. Ventresses previous backstory was epic and Mauls character was ruined by his reborth.

Yes they were. Kindly explain to me how Ventress's previous backstory was "epic" (I'll give you the chance to look at Wookieepedia for details on it).

Maul's "reborth" introduced a new dimension to the character as a surprisingly talented schemer of questionable sanity. A new side to him. Worked out quite well.

Kinda hard to ruin Maul in all honesty. There was nothing to his character in the first place.

Still stupid though. But I'd say the payoff was worth it. The brothers vs Palpatine is honestly one of the coolest duels in all of Star Wars.

I don't see how Ventress was improved as a character by this series. She already had a fleshed out backstory, and as far as capabilities, she spent the majority of the series suffering the fate of every villain in it who isn't Maul or Dooku: losing and running away like a *****.

Broke her free from Dooku's employ, elevating her from a one-note flunky to a woman with a serious grudge and perpetual abandonment issues.

Like, the whole thing with her going ****ing Rambo on all the warlords on her planet and conquering the shit out of it was neat as plumb dickins. I mean:

"I am fear. I am the queen of a blood-soaked planet and an architect of genocide. I have helped to crack the galaxy in half with this war and conquered every enemy I have ever faced—including death. All except for you."

Ep. Ic.

Urgh. Vomit volcano time. Mauls supposed to be a silent ****ing devil monster, not some generic seething Sith who hisses his lines and has evil schemes. He doesn't work as a schemer.

Her abandonment issues were already apart of her character before the series. Her "serious grudge" is also something that was already present, except it was directed at Obi-Wan rather than Dooku.

In fact, both of these concepts are covered in a series called... Obsession. 😐

A very decent comic book series that displayed Obi-Wan and Ventress' unintended relationship with one another and turned a one-note flunky acolyte of Dooku's into a human, pitiable character.

...Except the only thing retconned from Ventress was her origins. Nowhere does TCW invalidate her warlord past or her introduction to Dooku on the Cauldron. The flashbacks conveniently avoid contradicting that.

Maul works fine as a scheming Sith. Bane's Sith have to be polymaths due to circumstances; they're not like the morons you salivate over LOL SNARL AND GROWL AND FAIL.

uhuh

Obsession was awesome.

Not as awesome as your mother.

It was alright.

The rest of the comics involving Anakin and Kenobi were generally quite bad though and usually worse than the show.
