Perhaps we'd splinter. Forsaking the new Disney canon and retaining the old, now stagnant Lucas canon.

If Disney canon is consistent, I'd hope not. It'd resolve many of our problems.

Disney is making huge canon changes, so maybe this sub-forum will die. But that's okay because I know deep down, we'll all still be bickering in spirit.

Thanks. But what does Disney making changes have to do with this forum dying? I think, if anything, it might spice up things a little.

Depends. Post-ROTJ EU might take a hit. That doesn't bother me, but some people around here actually care for it. I feel pity for them.

Going forward Disney is making everything that they make the same level of canon. Movies, animation, comics, games e.t.c will all just be canon. Instead of G-Canon, T-Canon and C-Canon.

Whilst this forum is supposed to seperate EU Canon from the Movie only Canon.

But it will only apply to future canon made by Disney now. All previous EU canon may not be included in the new "All is Canon" policy.

And DP, alright but if [and only if] Disney does a significantly better job at not fvcking up continuity and create silly contradictions, it won't be necessary to differentiate levels of canon. Also, as long as the previously stated canon material remains canon [aside from Post-RotJ stuff] or isn't contradicted by Disney's new material, I don't see why it should be a big issue.

there is a LOT of post rotj, though. Dark Empire, Thrawn, all the Han Solo stuff, Vong, Veregre, and the resolution to Zonoma Sekot are all wiped out. Not to mention Caedus. I'm gonna miss that genocidal bastard.

And I don't care about the rest, to be honest. Maybe Thrawn a little bit. But the Vong and Vergere can go no problem imo.

Aren't they doing the whole... 'Lucas'-verse, then there's the EU-verse where all this stuff happens but doesn't impact the former?

That would save all the lack of other stuff, due to them not happening in the new movies and all that.

No, now that Lucas isn't involved, they're just taking the route that everything is just canon:

Which will save any future stories being wiped out of continuity. I guess they will just be extra careful in future when making comics and novels. And I guess the film makers will need an EU Expert to advise them.

Yes. I think this is good. SW has pretty much been dead for quite a while outside of comics, novels and videogames which only hardcore fans like us read and/or play, so I think a new movie makes room for a new era of SW, fanbasewise and storywise. Whatever happens, good or bad, I think it'll be at the very least interesting to see how everything unfolds.

It will be from now on. Not sure about stuff already done though. A lot of that might be wiped out with the new films.

My guess would be that all the Post-Lucas stuff will be called something like "Disney Canon." And everything going forward will be D-Canon no matter the medium.
