TFA had 2 references to the PT early on in the movie. And a third one in the middle. And then it was publicised right after OW that you can hear Ewan Mcgregor's Obi-Wan in Rey's vision. So that article claiming TFA completely ignored the PT is just wrong to start with.

That said there's no way they would risk the backlash from bringing Hayden in for this Episode. But Episode 8 or 9 is still a possibility. But more likely for Ewan as Obi-Wan.

I wouldn't be concerned at all with Hayden's acting given the lack of Lucas writing the script or directing the acting.

Shattered Glass was a good movie, but since Lucas created that abomination named Attack of the Clones, it's been slim pickings for Hayden in anything relevant. Sad, really.
