I know what you were talking about. You just reminded me of the paper and I'm curious to see if there is a non secular spin. I'm almost positive there isn't, unless my parents, grandparents, and the crap I've read about him are all wrong.

Oh I don't deny that the Party was secular. They literally had an organization called the Militant Atheists that went around shooting priests and knocking down churches. No, they were atheists all the way.
My paper focuses on a concept known as Civil Religion. The Soviets took secularism to a an extreme and turned it into their own civil religion. the Soviets worshiped man (as described by the ahistorical bullshit of Marx and Lenin), and so in a way, my paper is focused on what happens when any ideology is taken to fanatical levels and interlaced with society and the government.
They even had their own brand pf pseudo-science, designed to prove that Communism would genetically bring about the "New Soviet Man and Woman" which would be superhuman proletariat gods.

Yup, all that's about right. I thought you were trying to find something that would make it seem that secularism had nothing to do with Stalin's regime, since we had an argument on what killed more people, religion or secularism.
