Agreed, I wish that Toriyama would've showed more of their strength & durability towards the end of the series. However, when Videl fought Suppobitch in the Budokai, he was super-powered & she was just a regular human. He whooped the shit out of her but she just wouldn't give up. And Cell survived a full onslaught by the armor. They fired missiles & bullets from every weapon they had but to no avail.
Doesn't really matter if he weight trained, he's actually superior to SSJ3 Goku in every way. He's physically stronger, trust me, & I don't think that's his full power because he got up before the Elder Kai was completely done with the ritual. Gohan is the closest we have to Superman in the Dragon Ball Z universe.

Well maybe after their army was beaten they didn't think it would work to use something bigger that would be more harmful than good. That or they just don't have that stuff. In a world of flying cars and capsule items they have normal looking jets and tanks that don't even float. All their weapons are very...normal looking in such an advanced world so maybe they didn't advance weaponry.

I'm not saying he was but think of it this way, Gohan as a Super Saiyan 2 against Cell, someone who seemed completely invincible, dealt a lot of damage with only two hits or so. That's a lot of physical strength right there. And I'm not sure how canon it is but in the anime Supreme Kai says that it was pretty hard to restrain Gohan's movements after he became a Super Saiyan & goes on to say that may not have even been his full power. Again, don't know how true it is & I don't really like using the anime in debates because of how flawed the lines are but that's just what Supreme Kai says. Mystic Gohan is basically superior to SSJ3 Goku in every way. SSJ3 Goku couldn't even really last against Kid Buu, someone Mystic Gohan would annilhate without a problem.
