We've reached a bit of an impasse here. We need to come to a decision unless we'd like to postpone the battle another week to allow deliberations on the definitions of all the rules. This new development of 6 Silver Surfers with Oan Powers is too much, let alone 5 possible Mon Els with Oan Powers and access to the Speedforce (re-read BWs description from the prior battle).
I agree that we either need to place a limit or outright ban the move. Upon further analysis, Kyle (and now Hal) do break the sub-Thanos limitation because the combined power of the originator and their subsequent independent constructs still falls under the power base of one roster slot and all originates form the same power ring. That one member of each roster, when using the independent construct ability, surpasses Thanos's independent energy output. Thanos can not under his own power sustain 5 Silver Surfer level beings and also maintain his own offensive capabilities.
I motion to strike. 👇
The original rule did not take into account the collective firepower this ability brings to bear for one roster spot which would be greater than an independently powered Thanos and breaks another established rule.
I think we should re-start battle #6 on Wednesday and allow the teams a day to re-draft their prep with more established guidlines.
In the interest of fairness to all parties in this tournament, and due to concerns voiced by Khellendros, Grey Fox, Scoobless, leonidas, batdude, and myself, I motion for all of the judges to vote for:
1) The use of a limit for independently acting constructs for GLs in this tournament.
or
2) The outright banning of the tactic (which in turn would really, really piss Khellendros off because he was on that track in round 1 but it didn't pan out due to ambiguous rules and oversight by the judges).
If we vote for option 1 we're going to need time to establish fair limits and more than likely postpone the battle a couple of days to allow everyone a fair chance to argue their case.
If we vote for option 2 we can continue the battle tomorrow, allowing for both teams to start fresh and re-submit prep posts to Digi.
My vote is for option 1.
Validus votes for option 2.
Scoob, what's your opinion?
Goddamnit. I go on a nice roadtrip over the weekend, and make the mistake of coming back and reading all this this.
I say let the constructs stay in. F*ck it. At this point, Digi has shown that he WILL NOT side against BW and newjak unless the entire tournament rises up as one and kicks his f*cking email inbox in in their rage. And since I'm betting this isn't happening, just let the 8v8 fight end this 3v3 tournament and hand BW another win for using this mutated version of a strategy he didn't even come up with himself.
