Dear Lovely One - you seem to have the same outlook on Liz and Jack as I do. I really enjoy reading your blogs - it gives me new insight to some thoughts.
I am so glad to have someone else mention the scene involving Norrington and Lizzie - after the persuade me scene. That's another clue to the pairing of Liz and Jack. Why wound Disney bother to have Norrington notice the attraction - and he also rolls his eyes at her when she gets mad on the beach because the compass has once again pointed to Jack and Norrington, I believe, knows this - he knows that she has a thing for Jack.
As for Jack betraying Will - hey when there is sexual tension, lust, ect. between him and Liz as strong as it is - it just over takes him - he can't help but kiss her back. She has admired Jack and been wanting him since he rescued her from the botton of the ocean in Pirates 1 -she just hasn't realized it till now. She's been in denial cuz she's suppose to love Will. She's loved Will all her life- so these feelings she has for Jack are unexpected - and she's a little angry with herself for it.
I do agree - he is smiling when she chains him up - because he realizes she has "come over to his side" like he tells her during the curiosity conversation. He calls her Pirate. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, Captain Jack never looked sexier and more manly than he does in these last scenes - when he shoots the gun, when his back is too her and he is surveying the ship just before the kiss and of course when she kisses him and when he smiles at her and whipers "Pirate." And of course when he faces the Krakin! What a man. I love Jack Sparrow. I agree, how could Lizzie ever go back to boring old Will after having taste Jack Sparrow. No way.
