The "conservative agenda" as you put it, isn't all you think it is. (although for some conservatives, it is.)
Some people simply don't think that "doing what you want, whenever you want" is the way to run a country or teach an up-and-coming generation how to run it later.
The Conservatives that I know aren't against "all forms of social progression", they are just cautious as to what they would define as PROGRESS in the first place.
Example: Promoting the idea that un-protected or protected sex is a great thing to do, at any age, should be explored and encouraged, and STD's and pregnancy aren't too big a deal. STD's can be treated, and babies can be aborted. Year after year if necessary, with no lasting consequences in the young peoples lives.... Shit, we'll even pay for it.
Becuase I don't consider that worldview as "progress" and I support abstinence and am pro-life, that makes me some racist, bigot, oppressor of all things free?

Enlighten me then, brother Paul, as to what the true definition of the liberal position on American life is, so that I may better understand.
For real, tell me what you think Liberal, and Conservative really mean, at the end of the day, after laws are passed or blocked, what it is that the two groups are aiming for as the way of life?
there is no true definition of 'liberal' as it applies to american politics, just as there is no true definition of 'conservative'. all there really is is an agenda, it seems, since the true meaning of those words are drown out by democracy on one hand, and bullshit in the other. to call an ideal of democracy the same as an anarchist is a direct contradiction. thats all that needs to be said. its just common sense.
liberal, as it seems today, is for the ideal of a democracy which trusts its people conditionally. we have had liberal presidents and congressmen as long as neocons and none have ever suggested doing away with law and morality. however when people dont want other's personal morality pushed on them, they are labeled as godless and lacking in any morals. the next leap in logic: they want to do away with all law and morality. and where is the proof?
neoconservatism, to me, seems to be steering toward an end of unconditional mistrust. in the quest to keep things the way they are, they seem to be willing to destroy the way it's always been. protect the freedom of americans by taking it away. ease our fear by putting us in a constant panic, and feeling that something horrible will definately happen soon, although its never known when or where. it also seems that the tired old theory that one can carpet bomb another nation into a state of peace....is still believed. by them, and by you.

I think that was a bit rash. I think "neo" simply implies a revival of traditional Conservative values.
