Bro, the misses was fired first ,Cap then threw his shield. Falcon was tied down to the missle, and Cap threw his shield to catch up with the missle and break the falcon's restraints.

Well what happened in Amazing Spiderman is that, Cap threw his shield at Spiderman, Spiderman dodged and webbed it up....but thats exacly what Cap wanted him to do. It left Spiderman open for a nerve strike.

Nah, not really, most ballistic missile have 2 thrusts at takoff, the first engine ignites the rocket, propelling from the silo or through the water (water being fired from a nuclear sub) after the missile clears the water or silo, which is usually 50-100 feet in to air already, the missile actually drops back to earth by about 5-10 feet, then the second engine ignites, propelling the rocket to suborbital flight.
If cap hit the missile just after the second engine ignited, its very possible to missile could have been moving at not even Mach 1, again depending on how soon the second rocket ignited.
But this is just comics and I doubt the writer took all of what I just said into consideration.

I never said the missle couldnt eventually travel that fast, Im talking about at takeoff, not even Space shuttles travel at mach 10 during takeoff.

Oh shit, I just read that, the missile that is mentioned in that line is NOT a ballistic missiles, read the line after it.

The patriot missile is small and Carry's a small warhead, its job is to hunt down INCOMING BALLISTIC MISSILES, which like I said, are very slow at takeoff.
Its near impossible to launh something as large and as heavy as a ballistic missile at mach 10. Think about it, they carry TONS upon TONS of explosives, and thats not including the fuel and the missile itself.
EDIT: Affiem I am not saying that the missle cant reach mach 10, Im just saying at takeoff its not going to be going anywhere near that speed. Just wanted to clarify myself.

To tell the truth though im looking at some pics of a patrriot missle and they dont seem that much smaller than the missle that Cap had to catch up with.
Maybe it wasnt launched at mach 10, but it still was probably mach something.
