2. Being an ancient Jedi Master (a more combat orientated one, none the less) with hundreds of years of experience under his belt, alone, says a lot. Aside from that, he's shown to be quite adept with a number of obscure Jedi abilities (making his stick lightsaber resistant, and stripping beings from he Force, for instance), was highly respected by the other Jedi of his time, and years after his death, historians considered his holocron one of the most important sources of information the Jedi had.
He was clearly a very impressive Jedi Master, and Nadd was able to overpower him whilst location on a completely different solar system, as a "powerless" spirit.
