I actually debated pushing them down because I think Hornets may make a run.
The format was changed because of the Suns getting an easy playoff route last year while Mavs/Spurs faced off in the 2nd round. Its now the 3 division winners and the next best record as the top 4 seeds, and they are arranged in order of record:
Example (completely illogical example just for fun):
Blazers win NW (68-14)
Warriors win Pacific (64-18)
Hornets win SW (42-40)
Seattle is not a division winner but has a 67-15 record
The seeding would be:
1. Blazers
2. Seattle
3. Warriors
4. Hornets
The rest is obviously in order of record.

Hornets did a lot in the offseason to improve while Kings pretty much just lost Bonzi. They'll have Artest for a full year, but part of that could actually bring them down, yet another reason to not believe in the Kings.
I specifically think that Peja will fit in very well on the Hornets. He does very well when all he needs to do is spot up and shoot, and Chris Paul will be able to supply that. Plus a re-motivated Chandler is a big step up for them on D.

Sup guys, good to see all the gang is here for the start of the season next week. Some of the other hoops threads were getting a bit testy and i think we need some new NBA action to talk about. Im not even gonna start with any predictions this early but as usual yours seem pretty solid Myth.
My Lakers have a crazy amount of injuries to start the season: Kobe, Kwame, Mihm, Vlade Rad and Williams are all doubtful for the season opener. Kwame and Mihm could be out for a couple more weeks which leaves young Bynum starting in the middle, he wanted the minutes now its time to see what he can do with them.
I havent been following many other teams in the preseason but i am happy with the way my guys played without some of their key players. Walton has improved immensely and Farmar will be our PG of the future for sure. Ronny Turiaf has been another pleasant surprise and Sasha Vijacic has actually been making open shots which is a huge improvement.
So what have you guys liked about your respective teams during the preseason? (I realise that it doesnt have a huge bearing on the regular season but it gives you a chance to see how new players will fit in and if any returning ones have improved).
My nets are pretty banged up as well, but it's all good for the long run. i simply love the fact that they got marcus williams at 22. such a nice boost off the bench subbing for j-kidd. he recently suffered a wrist injury that was projected to last for 4-6 weeks and i nearly screamed my head off. but then it turned out as a false alarm. he's fine and he'll be playing soon. that's good, because josh boone's out for another month or so, same thing for eddie house (our only dependable shooter off the bench), and carter's a little shaky. not a great start (there like 1 and 5) but i like antoine wright's potential. he improved so much over the summer. good thing he'll take some of the scoring load. Krstic better have a breakout year like everyone says he will from taking the summer off and resting. i don't want another simulation of the miami vs. NJ series. oh, and i love hassan adams. his energy is phenomenal, just what the nets needed. i hope the additions like darvin ham and brandan bowman pay off, though you can't ask for too much from them. overall, i like the nets' chances. there mostly winning another division title anyway.

Let's remember that the Kings started their turnaround when Bonzi was out with an injury. Not saying he won't be missed but Artest really was the main difference between them losing and winning, not Bonzi. And Kevin Martin has played exceptionally well so far this pre-season.
Truthfully, I have many doubts about Peja in NO. I mean, if the dude didn't give a shit when he was in his contract year, who's to say he's going to give a shit now that he's got a fat contract. I just don't see it and don't even get me started on his rebounding or lack there off.

I was so proud of the kid, on the Laker forum i visit some dudes are so impatient with him expecting him to dominate straight away. The kid turns 19 today and has only played a handful of high school games before entering the NBA. By the time he turns 21 he will be a force on both ends of the court, he just needs time. This was just a glimpse of what he can do in the years to come, he really has a bright future ahead of him because he has all the physical tools and a great work ethic, that and arguably the greatest center of all time tutoring him.
I really love the guys we have on this team, even if they are a way away from the championship i am going to enjoy watching them play this year. We are very versatile at all positions and we're alot deeper than last year. Once we get our full squad back i think we might surprise a few people.
Our depth chart reads:
PG - Parker/Williams/Farmar (i love this kids game, perfect triangle guard)
SG - Kobe/Evans/Vujacic
SF - V Rad/Walton
PF - Odom/Turiaf/Cook
C - Brown/Mihm/Bynum
I think the last roster space will go to "sicknote" McKie who has played a grand total of 10 mins last season, but he is an expiring contract and could be useful in a trade before the deadline.
