Yeah he was my favorite player in college, was kinda hoping the Lakers would pick him, but Im cool with Farmar.

Farmar is a much better choice with the offense we run, he has all the skills that Phil Jackson loves.

I hate Marcus Williams, because he played for UConn, and I hate UConn.

Farmer actually trained with the nets a little this past summer, but it's a fact: Marcus Williams was the best pure point guard going into the draft, and that's exactly what the nets needed, a pure point guard to backup kidd. And considering how well he played in yesterday's game (21 points, 9 assists), i'd say i'm pretty content with him.

Exactly, the Nets needed a creative PG to back up Kidd. The Lakers needed one smart enough to run the triangle, both teams addressed their needs.

i still can't believe he got passed until 22. it was a miracle the nets got him and Boone, both members of UConn.

Yep, the Nets needed 2 things in the draft. A back up for Kidd and some size up front, they managed to get both. I still think they need some more bangers to go deep in the playoffs though, the big 3 will only get you so far once the game slows down.

But of course. I bite my nails every single time I hear a rumor about the nets getting a big man. just any decent strong tough big man. I mean, I love Krstic and his wonderful shooting ability, but he's softer than a feather, and he doesn't have that quickness or agility that elite big men have. whenever he gets fouled, that's it, it doesn't matter how hard the foul is. The ball flys out of his hand and he never can build up the strength to put it through the hoop and get an "and 1." and people are actually comparing him to Dirk! can you believe it? it just goes to show you how much the nets are overrated. when you see the fact that jason collins is the starting PF, you then understand how shallow the team is. and everybody says, "oh, they have the big three, so it's not a surprise they were 49 and 33 last year. they should have done even better, with jason kidd, vince carter, AND richard jefferson." when people say that, it just shows me that they know nothing about the nets.

Who are "people"? I've never heard that comparison. Are you it wasn't just one dumbass?

Sounds like a Bill Walton moment to me.

Im sure. Commentators, NBA analysts (well known ones other than Bill Walton), and even some players. It would be another story if only one person said it, but I've heard this many times.

Has anybody else here heard that comparison? It just baffles me and I've never heard it before.

You may have not heard it because you obviously can't see the nets play on local television. you have to either watch it on ESPN or TNT, which the nets rarely get a spot on. I'm able to see every nets game and all the talk around Krstic, so that maybe why you've never heard it before. But take my word for it, I'm serious. They say he's the best shooting big man behind Dirk, they're both European and have similiar dribbling styles and shooting styles, or whatever the hell they say. Krstic has worked on his 3-pointer over the summer, and its pretty good...being open. He's nowhere near Dirk's patent shot, where he spins around the defense and does that fadeaway fling shot that's like a high parabolic arc that always goes in the basket perfectly. They say Krstic is going to have a "breakout" season because this was the first summer he took off from his Serbian team. Boy, I hope they're right.

Lean wit it Dirk wit it

LOL it probaly was Walton who said it.

I watch plenty of the Nets nationally televised games. I'm not saying that you haven't heard it, but you claimed it as if it were a common misconception. Maybe its just a local thing. Nobody else here has seemed to speak up claiming they've heard it.

That's just the thing. The nets are rarely televised nationally. I don't know why, but it's been a trend these past few years. Last year, they only showed like 1 or 2 nets games in total nation wide. Exactly as I said it, I'm able to watch nets games locally, so I probably am the only one who heard it.

Is it just the local commentators though? Thats what I'm trying to figure out now. Because I've read plenty on the Nets in the past year as well as watched the televised games that were national and never heard it. So is it the two dumbasses that commentate just for the local stations? (note: when I say dumbasses, thats assuming they are the ones comparing Krstic to Dirk).

Marv Albert is the Nets play by play guy right?

Marv Albert and Mark Jackson, and I think Albert was one of them who said it, but he was quoting someone else like, "___ says Krstic is at such a high level, one of the premier shooting big men in the league, right behind Dirk Nowitzki." Sorry it's ambiguous, but I can't quite remember who was quoted. I definitely heard it though. Anyway, as local TV commentators, it's like their job to compliment the featured team in anyway. They always say stuff like, "Jason Collins is a big contributing factor to the nets squad," and many other bullshit statements. I still like both of them though. They're good commentators.
