Francis is going back to Houston. My how time has changed things. At one point Francis' value was enough to trade for T-Mac.

You mean Francis and 3 or 4 other role players were valued for a T-Mac trade, I get your point that his value has declined, but even when his value was up there, he was no T-mac.

Yeah, you got the point.

Did you guys hear about the point shaving ref that is allegedly involved with the mob? FBI is on the case. Yikes.

Strange trade by the Suns to Seattle today.

Sonics get:
Kurt Thomas
Sun's 2008 1st round pick
Sun's 2010 1st round pick

Suns get:
$8 million trade exception
future conditional 2nd round pick

This could help the Suns or completely backfire. Thomas was poorly used in Phoenix, but was still one of the better guys to have around to guard Duncan. If anything happens to Nash before 2010's offseason, that may end up looking bad giving up that pick, though the 2008 one probably will remain a late 1st round pick and Phoenix just gives those away anyway. So in other words, for the Suns it all depends on what they do with the $8 million. It may in some way help keep their core together. Or they have some plan to pick up another key piece. I'm just trying to figure out if Kerr is doing something incredibly smart, or if he is just cutting costs like the owners wanted him to and have no plan to use it to push them to the top.

I think it just mean more playing time for Amare to get more dunks.

Their future looks bleak. They have Nash aging and they won't be getting much in the way of draft picks for a while. They already gave away the rights that became Luol Deng and one of the most NBA ready Europeans in Rudy Fernandez (to my Blazers 🙂 ). But now they have no 1st pick in 2008 or 2010. And right when they push their rotation to 8, it is back down to 7. They better hope Hill pans out, otherwise they gave up their future for nothing.

so the FBI is investigating a point shaving scheme involving refs and the mob. Sounds like this should be part of a movie but instead its just another reason to hate refs.

Mikki Moore agreed to go to the Kings. (I'm not sure what the contract was, but I'm guessing they overpaid for him because he had a few good games against the Cavs when they refused to guard him)

He signed the MLE. I'll be happy with the signing if they can at least get rid of either Miller or Thomas...or both, but that's a pipe dream. If both are still in a Kings uni when training camp starts, I'll be pissed. At this point I would rather see Kenny Thomas be cut and get full pay from the Kings while playing for another team than being the 8 million dollar piece of monkey crap cancer. If there ever was an image that can sum up everything that has gone wrong with the Kings these last five years it's this:

exactly.

I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure monkey crap can't get cancer.

Do they still have ATL's 1st round pick?

Yeah, but it seems for the most part they give away a lot of their picks and plan on spending all their money on keeping Marion, leaving little money to build around them.

So after all that talk, Shawn Marion is staying? I thought him and Nash didn't get along, especialy siince Marion doesn't show up in the playoffs.

Marion always shows up in the playoffs.....

They already have alot of key peices to a championship team, all they need is one or two more key bench players(and they have 8 mill for that). Hell, they might even have one it last year if it wasn't that B.S suspension on Amare.

So they have one year in where they dont have an number 1 pick then?

How is that going to hurt them that much, and that's in 2010 on where well, if they dont make it then, they could easily stockpile picks with the talent they have.

They already practically gave away the rights to Luol Deng, who knows how well Rudy Fernandez will turn out, and they seem to just hand out picks for free. I simply don't think that is wise. In the mean time they invest all of their money into guys that won't thrive when Nash is gone (including one who has caused chemistry issues for wanting more publicity).

Wuta- I know they are championship contenders now, but I'm talking about their future. San Antonio has found a way to win now and continue to build for the future through the draft, all while keeping plenty of money. Suns seem to have a 3 year window to win and it appears all down hill from there (to me at least).

Yea, thats true, but alot of S.A talent/prospects weren't 1st rounders, they build alot through trades or other parts of the draft. With the exception of the obvious like Tony Parker and Duncan, I could be wrong but I believe even Ginobli was a 2nd rounder.

LOL! Look what I found!

Btw, its just my personal opinion that Suns are making a mistake.

That is pretty funny.

The NBA draft pick trades are ****ing complicated compared to NFL. In the NFL, if its an 3 overall draft pick, its an 3rd overall draft pick.

With the NBA, its like, you can only get that draft pick until we dont get an top 3 lottery slot, but in 2009, you can have it no matter what.....

Yeah, but I do like that they can trade the picks with conditions. I like the highest bidder on that picture. 🙂
