Other than all the words that have been printed in it and translated about a billion times. So just remember that woman must be subservient to you, that is the real reason that you believe 😉

The Qu'ran is not the Word of Yahweh; it is the word of the moon god who I have shown incontrovertibly to not be the same Person as the God of the Bible regardless if Allah means god in Arabic or not.

I don't care about the differences between one delusion and another. They are both the same; delusions.

Well, I beg to differ with you ThePittman. I believe that God took a bone from Adams rib for a reason. God could have taken a bone from Adam's foot signifying that Eve should be beneath him or God could have taken a bone from Adam's head signifying that he should be above Eve. But God (in His prudence and love) didn't. God took a bone from Adam's rib signifying that they were equal and that Eve should walk beside him as his equal. I did not say that man and woman where the same because each one has God-given differences designed to complement one another. But as far as God is concerned women are equal to men in terms of value and worth. Ladies you are all special and important to God.

Then why does the bible say that they have to be subservient to man? Why doesn't it say that woman are equal to men? At that time when the rules and guidelines were being written woman were no more than slaves and property, they had no roles in government, laws and could be killed for the slightest insult to a man. Don’t you think that if God meant them to be equal to men that he would have guided his scribes to put that into the Bible?

Also because if he were to make woman equal then why didn’t he create them the same and not part of Adam, by that alone they are not equal.

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus .

Like I said: men and women are equal, we just have different functions within the Kingdom of God .

As in all the churches of the holy ones, women should keep silent in the churches, for they are not allowed to speak, but should be subordinate, as even the law says. But if they want to learn anything, they should ask their husbands at home. For it is improper for a woman to speak in the church. (1 Corinthians 14:33-35 NAB)

But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)

Give no woman power over you to trample upon your dignity. (Sirach 9:2 NAB)

Wives, be subordinate to your husbands, as is proper in the Lord. (Colossians 3:18 NAB)

Likewise, you wives should be subordinate to your husbands so that, even if some disobey the word, they may be won over without a word by their wives' conduct when they observe your reverent and chaste behavior. (1 Peter 3:1-2 NAB)

Sounds like their equal to me 😉

Who would win in a fight? George Washington or Jesus?

My guess is Washington since he threw a knife into heaven once and rode a horse made of crystals.

Any takers?

Without going into detail, there were reasons for establishing these guidelines for women back then. Many times women would have a lot of questions during the service and were found talking, disrupting the service.

You are adept at taking isolated Scriptures--you know out of the contextual setting--to support your erroneous position. What does this have to do with equality? This was one of many law-based customs for the Israelites at that time.

Give no woman power over you to trample upon your dignity. (Sirach 9:2 NAB)

The Sirach is not even included in the canon, therefore it is not the Word of God (it doesn't even sound like the Bible).

Wives, be subordinate to your husbands, as is proper in the Lord. (Colossians 3:18 NAB)

Ephesians 5:21
submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Husbands and wives should submit to one another in the fear of God.

Likewise, you wives should be subordinate to your husbands so that, even if some disobey the word, they may be won over without a word by their wives' conduct when they observe your reverent and chaste behavior. (1 Peter 3:1-2 NAB)

I already answered this in the verse immediately above this one. You fail to understand how to interpret Scripture. Taking Scriptures out of context and examining them in isolation is where you fail. You must gather every Scripture on a subject before coming to a conclusion about a matter. Based on the totality of Scripture God has placed the man in charge as it were in the home (for sake of order because you cannot have two chiefs, captains, or leaders as such). But both the husband and wife should submit to one another, but at the same time fulfilling their God-given roles within the home.

Sounds like their equal to me

Because they are.

wouldn't that mean that there's contradictionz?

Also, Washington vs Jesus. Who takes it?

remember, Washington has two on the vine.

Now who determines what goes into the canon, man so who to say that isn't the word of God?

This is the problem, you have to "interpret" what the meaning is so you can come up with what ever you want and man has to try and figure out what God is saying and not what is written. Smells like a lot of BS there to me. 😉

ThePittman, answer this one question for me: why would God go through the process of giving the inspiration for His Word to be written and then abandon the process at that point?

I believe that God was just as involved in the codificaton and canonization of His Word as He was the inspiration aspect of it.

Don't get mad at me because you don't know how to rightly divide the Word of Truth.

There is more then one bible in the world. Why is yours the true one, and all the others, false?

Well, we are not discussing Bibles here we are talking about which books were included in the canon to form the complete revealtion of God's Word to humanity (i.e. which books are truly given by inspiration of God and those that are not).

But you have chosen a set of these books that is different then, let's say the Catholic or the Ethiopian bible. Why are you right in your choice and all the other people wrong? What makes you so special that you have an exclusive right to the absolute truth when most other people would disagree with your interpretation of the bible you have chosen, let alone, a completely different configuration of the bible?

You never admit to the possibility that you could be wrong. That is one of the main reasons I say you are delusional. No human knows the truth for sure, and anyone who claims they do, is ether a fool or a liar.

Way to gloss over the post, it is man that determines that a book is to be part of the canon so it is man with his flaws is to say what the word of God is, you don’t see a problem with this? The other issue is that these are “inspired” writings of God, so man again with his flaws wrote the words of God, you don’t see a problem with this?

You say that I have to interrupt the meaning of the scriptures, this lead only too many different variations of it so who version is correct and why not take it as it is written?

So why did they need this rule? Why did women have these questions? We they dumb and couldn’t control themselves and me could?

No, women are generally smarter then men. They probably saw all the contradictions in the Christian mythology and where told, by men, to shut up. 😄

No, seriously, I haven't chosen anything (I had nothing to do with the canon of Scripture i.e. how it was compiled). However, those who did compile the canon did so according to careful guidelines (it was not an abitrary, whimsical process).

As far as Bible translations, I prefer a literal, word-for-word translation such as the King James or New King James Bible as opposed to a paraphrase as the NIV etc.
