Heres a recap in case everyones forgotten what happened last season:
There is definitely something else going on with Dr. Brainlady. I don't know if she is the Brainkiller, but the whole "the killer left pieces of brain at my doorstep and broke into my house, please save me" thing seems like common misdirection, and manipulation. I think she is manipulating Dexter into trusting and caring for her, so she can incorporate him into some grand scheme of hers. It also makes sense since the plot of every single ****ing season is Dexter trusting someone/accepting their philosophy only to realise its bad for him or that they're evil.
Dumb theories about a dumb show aside, I'm enjoying this season so far. I got a few good laughs from this show, both at it and with it. The air conditioner bit was good, and I chuckled every time I saw and heard "El Sapo" on screen.
Bonus theory: Whoever kills El Sapo becomes El Sapo. Deb will now begin the hunt after herself. When they showed El Sapo dead and then Dexter went to visit Deb and she was passed out on the couch, I thought "Oh SHIT, what if DEB IS EL SAPO NOW?!"
I hope they don't go with the "Ha, you shouldna trusted meh!" route. Again. And once again, Deb is the best part of this show. Whereas Dexter's character has just gone in circles for 8 season--be all flat and secretive, learn something new, return to normal, rinse repeat--Deb has actually had an arc. As a character she's wound up a very different person in a very different place than where she first started.
Plus her face pulls off a range of emotions and features. Unlike Dexter's stern, unamused, fake smile look. It's a shame, he was so interesting the first couple seasons. But once introductions are over, he became a very boring, static personality. Hopefully Deb will kill him in a murder-suicide.
He'll reject her next episode, but then he'll learn something new about her and trust her again. Been there done that.
Did you feel it really weird that he was grossed out by the cannibal? Considering his day job, his hobby, and his "supposed" disconnect, having him think cannibalism is f*cked up and upsetting felt really out of character.
What was Dexter's big plan when he cornered Yates... in the middle of a nursing home? Toss him out the window?

Well half right.
Yeah I did. No idea why he reacted like that. I guess it must be one of his quirks, like pedophiles really pissing him off.
I thought that too. It's like the writers knew he was going to get away so they didn't bother writing in Dexter's plans for escape. It's kinda lazy and I miss details like that.
He'll trust her again. The preview for next week has them all talking out the car accident. He'll get pissed at Deb and return to Vogel. And so will Deb. Shrink triangle. And once again, this is why Deb>>>>>Dexter. Wild card, b*tches!
Not that I miss him, but Dexter's Ghost Dad has been conspicuously absent of late. And I love that they still pull the "everything's all resolved" card not even half way in to the season. If Vogel does turn out to be the final "big bad" of the show, then they're doing a good job on selling her innocence thus far.
Quinn's looking more sexy and masculine this season, somehow. Gerard approves. They better be going somewhere with Masuka's kid. I can see it being either one last bit of secondary character drama, or a way for the writer's to give him a happy ending with some purpose.
