This whole season's been a disappointment so far. I was hoping for the final season to really go all out and possibly get really dark, but as it is it feels very formulaic and just kinda boring. Like they're afraid to actually shake things up in a meaningful way - possibly the rumored spinoff show that Showtime is investing in is to blame.

The true identity of the Brain Surgeon is much stupider than you'd think and isn't actually Vogel. Though wait until you see how Dex figures it out!
10 minutes in. I actually need to take breaks. Why does Dexter not tell Deb any useful information? She asks why Dexter was with Zach, he doesn't tell her. He tells her he's dead, doesn't explain himself. That's one's actually been a constant throughout the last two seasons.
In all the time that Vogel and Dexter have spent together, discussing incredibly damning and intimate things, she never, not once, mentioned that she was married or had kids? Not even an off-the-cuff remark?
Why are they still using that old line "Once this is all over, I'm gonna settle down and start a family"? Every season it feels like. And every time Dexter says it, it feel more and more tired. Like the show itself wants to veer away from its own plot and wrap itself up.
EDIT: And if Daniel Vogel would be in his "mid 40's", why would you age his clearly much older than 5 year old self 40 years?
Either a partnership or outright antagonism. Like how Walt and Skyler devolved. Started out strong and broke right the f*ck down after a huge revelation. And that was just meth. Dexter ritualistically kills people. The first two episodes of season 7 aside, Debra's "recovery" was misplaced. Again, S7 and S8 should have been almost exclusively about those two, and seen them either come together gradually in to a cohesive unit that understands one another (hell, take the brother-sister lovin' route--push boundaries), or outright enemies reluctant to fully destroy the other. Like Walt and Hank.
F*cking Breaking Bad, always making other shows' flaws the more apparent. Also, f*cking Hannah McKay. She's sXe, but goddamn is her presence annoying.
How lackluster. Talking about killing Vogel's son and the riveting conversation is "I can't worry about that" and "Well, you'll figure it out" while sitting on a couch, in shot-reverse-shot, with not even background music to fake an atmosphere.
Dexter's become the Star Wars prequels... ow. Even the select action-packed scenes for next episode has him flatly begging "don't touch her" as if she's a brand new guitar that he doesn't want his friends to get smudges on.
Also that cop guarding Dexter's apartment looked like Gus Fring.

Thought the same exact thing!
Funny but a sadly accurate article:

You guys remember "I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister."?
Or "Surprise muthaf*cka!"
Or "MIGUEEEELLLL!!"
Or "Shut up, c*nt."
Or this scene?
Remember all those great moments that never happened in the last few seasons?
Its basically an extremely sarcastic Dexter-version of this:
But bringing up basically every criticism of the show you can make while explaining how 'great' Dexter is. Like how incredibly hot (hothothot!) his bland, vapid love interest is. And how awesome it is that Dexter has the most low-maintenance toddler in the world!
I do recommend it. Its right near the end, like 9/10th of the way through.
