DIe by the Sword #5 is a perplexing issue, I see plans within plans and it's confusing.
Who the heck is the older couple at the end?
Those aren't Betsy's parents.
The man was once considered to be a god, huh?
This cat shaped all and gave some life to those that protect the Omniverse.
(sounds like Merlyn)
Who is this guy?
They go from Betsy hugging Brian,
and then they show Betsy sleeping in the Crystal Palace,
that's where she talks with the couple,
all of a sudden,
we realize she's still hugging Brian good-bye, after she departs from the couple,
she says she's "thinking about friends." (so who the heck was sleeping in the Crystal Palace?)
hum
They went ahead and stated that World had ended. 🤨
dontgetit
And Roma dies from a knife wound to the chest? lol.
The Fury sneaks into a knife wound on Merlyn's ankle.
That's a funny one,
in Book #1 - Merlyn took a blast to the chest from Jaspers that blew out his torso:
Merlyn reforms completely instantaneously.
....................................................................................
Now this knife wound that took place back in Book #4:
Is still fresh at the end of Book #5:
😆 I ain't making this up, what's going on here?
....................................................................................
Jaspers kills nearly every Captain Britain in the Omniverse in one battle:
(a near Infinite amount of CB Corps)
But the Fury who's more powerful than Jaspers,
gets owned by Blink and her cheesy energy lances:

Ok, I reviewed all the issues,
the person sleeping is Kitty Pride,
but it still explains little about who this couple is,
they're making it seem as though they're leaving the protection of the Omniverse
to the next generation.
But who can that be if not Merlyn/Roma?
Anyways, the extras I found:

I am not an expert on the fury but how the hell did blink manage to defeat him.
Fury can withstand the destruction of a reality unharmed,
but evidently Blink's energy lance quills >>> Universal implosion. 😂
But seriously,
I'm still not sure any of these cats have the same power level as the originals:
"One wears the Face & Form & memories of James Jaspers,
his companions wear the Form ... of the entity called Fury,
Neither of them is precisely what they seem,
but that revelation is for another time"
....................................................................................................
What this means exactly is yet to be seen,
but it might soften the stupidity surrounding the arc.

How'd you come to this conclusion from the scan you posted?
This morning, there were more Captains, it seemed,
than there were Stars in the sky --
-- one for every Dimension in the Sidereal String,
Now, that proud corps is little more than a ghost of what once was."
...........................................................................
The scan you asked about is from Book #3,
cheap copies of the Fury were getting owned by the endless Corps,
Jaspers waved his hand, and for the rest of the series,
there's a little more than a handful left.
(that's when the Exiles jumped in shortly after)

I was just curious where on the panel it said that?
I'd just say he killed a lot of 'em.
