And why do people try their gosh darndest to downplay Frieza's destruction of planets?
It's only Frieza we're talking about, the fact that he can destroy a planet in the first place would put him on the tippy top of mainstream power, right there with Superman and Thor.
Then again, it IS only Frieza we're talking about, so I can see why a Superman fanboy would go out their way to make destroying a freaking planet seem like it isn't that big a deal, despite the fact that we will never see Superman doing such. It'd make them look like jokes in thinking Superman can take Goku.

But, at the end of the day, if Frieza showed up in DC or Marvel, he'd easily be a crossover level villain, requiring teams to defeat him. Maybe Superman can win a few by himself, but it's pretty freaking doubtful, when you get right down to it.

That is true, now that I'm actually paying attention to the posting beyond Superman mentions from other message boards.
We can go back to Silver Surfer, and how a being who's, allegedly, so much faster than Goku, has so many showings of getting knocked on the mouth by scrubs.
Or are the people claiming this going to ignore any scan where I don't extrapolate speed based on the shine of Surfer's ass crack, birds flying south in the winter and the way the sun is rising in the east?

No, that's not what I'm saying. You brought up Superman not destroying a planet as if that meant anything, I'm just doing the same thing for Goku. It's almost as if you're implying that Superman is less powerful than Frieza, simply because he never done it.

Well, calling Frieza more powerful than Superman on the sole basis that he can destroy a planet and Superman can not may be a tad bit pushing it, but it's just an emphasis to how powerful Frieza is in the grand scale of things. Frieza is about Superman level, you cannot name a being in DC with Frieza's showings that cannot give Superman a good tussle. Whereas we all know Frieza became a joke to Goku's power by the end of the series.
Also, you cannot compare Goku with Superman in this instance, Goku has shown to be more powerful (leagues more powerful, actually) than a bonafide planet destroyer, the most you can say about Superman is that he's slightly more powerful than Frieza.
Unless you want to be an absolute wanker and ignore the vast majority of Superman's showings and the way the comics actually portray him.

And you are correct, his rogues are strong enough to present him with a challenge, though, most of them would get utterly destroyed by Frieza within seconds.
