and speaking of Jack's chest... erm... i found the deleted scene in potc 1 where he is showing lizzie the scars on his chest far more exciting than the bare-chested bit in awe... perhaps because in that scene, jack was laying eggs and making eyes at a goat... hahaha...😉

Oh my gosh! Kate, you inspired me! I think I've figured out all the prominent Jacks in that scene. PS: I liked the deleted COTBP shirtless Jack better too.

Peanut-Wanting Jack: All the Jacks represent some aspect of his personality, right? This is the take-what-you-can-give-nothing-back Jack. You may think that's Captain Jack, but I don't think so. It's ridiculous that Jack wants one simple peanut, but it's the only piece of food and HE'S going to be the one to get it. He's desperate to have it, obsessed with it, in fact. That's how he was in going after the Pearl. He spent 10 years going after one ship that he loved instead of just comandeering another one and picking up his pirating where he left off. However, we know that Jack isn't really a very good pirate, so this Jack gets bumped off easily.

Captain Jack: This is the Jack that openly loves the sea, that hides his emotions, the chess player that is Jack. He's a competent sailor, a fact that might be overlooked by people and he's determined to be a step ahead of his crew. Consider DMC when they were getting disgruntled that Jack hadn't led them to any treasure for a long time. He was able to side-step that really easily. This is the Jack that wants to be smarter and better than everyone and probably the one that makes him jealous of Barbossa in that he wants to be a better, more heartless pirate than Barbosa. He's sexy but mean.

Uh Catatonic Jack: This one's a little weird. It doesn't seem to fit Jack's personality to just lay around while there's a big to do going on around him. But here is what I think. This is the weak Jack, the one that let himself get marooned, the one that let himself be killed. He's vulnerable and, to the other Jacks, weak. He's gullible, too.

Egg-laying Jack: LovelyOne was really onto Jack's desire for immortality, but I'll give it a whirl. As screwed up as this is, it's a psychotic way of showing Jack's desire for immortality. As far as people know, the only way to last forever is to pass a part of yourself onto your children. I still think Jack is all in favor for having children, so come and attack me for it. I'm ready for ya. (puts on war face) 2guns

Horny Goat-Wanting Jack: This is more disturbing to me than the egg thing and I do think this got left in just for the comedy/shock value of it, but it's there for a reason like all the personalities. I think this one is simple: Jack is a man who has urges and he enjoys sex. He's had lots of mistresses in his life and the last act of his life was of a sexual nature (kissing Elizabeth), and now here he is all alone. We don't know how long he's been there and a man who is used to having sex a lot can go absolutely nuts from going without it. While Jack is already going nuts here, the lack of sex can't be helping. And to quote T&T from the DMC commentary, "And there's the goat!"

Mr. Shirtless Sexy Sparrow: Aw, this is the Jack I think we all want him to show more of. This is nice Jack. This is basically his heart. For a pirate, Jack's a nice guy. He freed a boatload of slaves not caring what would happen to him as a consequence, he wouldn't kill anyone when he was captain of the Pearl and Barbossa got tired of that, he dove into the water and saved a girl he didn't know because he didn't want her to drown, and he's done all he could to protect Elizabeth and Will from the less idealistic parts of being a pirate. This is the Jack that sometimes goes hand-in-hand with Catatonic Jack because this is the Jack that allowed himself to develop feelings for Elizabeth and alternate his want for her with his basic want to live, and the Catatonic Jack let him act on it by letting her kiss him. So it's natural that this Jack dies too because the other Jacks see him as weak. There's no place for heart in the pirate world and that's why Jack acts like an ass for a good portion of AWE.

Slow Jack: Aw, I have a soft spot for this one. This is the one who is smiling stupidly after Captain Jack runs his sword through Sexy Shirtless Sweet Jack. He also answers, "Aye captain" after everybody else. I think this is a smaller part of Jack that probably developed after he was marooned the first time. Yes, for the most part, Jack pretends to be dumber than he is and drunker than he is. But even Gibbs says Jack got a little different after that. I do think he suffered a little bit of brain damage, primarily in his motor skills. Look how he runs, how he walks. And I think sometimes his slurred speech is because of heat exhaustion rather than pretending to be drunk...or actually drunk.

Okay, whew, I'm out of breath. But at least seeing Jack without his shirt was my reward. Anybody know of any sparrabeth vids that include him without his shirt? I'm having fun imagining Liz ogling him.

hahaha! oh my word Willo, that was incredible!!! You know you've written too many college essays when...

I'm so impressed. that was deep. too bad lovelyone isnt here to appreciate it!!!

do us all a favor and make a sig with Lizzie imagining shirtless Jack or something... 😉

I don't know how to make sigs. For all my college essay experience, I have the IQ of a platypus when it comes to computers. Maybe you could teach me?

haha i wish! naw i am no good either. who is good at this kind of thing?

JoanJoan is probably the best, she's done most of the siggys on the POTC/Johnny Depp pages 😉

a little off topic, but dude, did you guys know you can take a cargo freighter transatlantic for about the same price as a plane ticket???

Wow, willo, nice analysis.

My love for Sparrabeth is always there but it's not as strong as it used to be.

Hey guys, anyone game to write POTC 4 script and send it to Jerry Bruckheimer Films or BuenaVista?

*cracks knuckles*

Back....in...business

and that includes siggy wise too 😄.

Mina! We missed you soo much

MINNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! You're back. YAY!! I missed you SO much.

Willo! Nice work. I agree with everything. I have a soft part for the Slow Jack too...Jack does act slow sometimes but there's still that small part of his sun dried brain where Slow Jack lives. I think it's adorible!

The thing that stayed in the script from the beginning is "Jack killing his good side" and I think it IS the reason Jack's selfish more than usual for most of AWE...But was it his dad's little "The trick is living with yourself forever" speech that won him over or the fact that he left his hallucinations in the brig? Because that last bit was rather heroic and rather "Mr.Shirtless sexy Sparrow" of him. Is he growing his heart back or something? lol

About the having kids thing though...it seems to me you're right willo cause Jack's ending has been bugging me so much. Not the fact that he doesn't get the Pearl or the girl...I like him going off on an unknown wild adventure (it would've been better if he had the girl and the ship) but the thing that really bugs me is that he spent an entire movie (or perhaps all three) discovering that living forever alone is not that exciting and ends up so scared of death that he wants a pathetic Fountain?

"Do you fear death?"
"You've no idea."
Great T&T! Good job with that.

Hmm, you've raised a lot of questions. It would be a lot of fun to delve into Jack and Teague's relationship, but this thread really isn't the place for it. But my guess is that Jack, like all of us, really take our dads' advice into consideration. And I'm of the opinion that love is stronger than any form of bitterness and it took something like seeing Will dying a slow and painful death and Elizabeth bent over him hysterical that made Jack, in a split second, say to himself, "hey I love these guys and that's worth more than immortality." Yeah, I wish he had a girl and a ship too and that he wasn't so pressed to find some fountain that won't even work when he gets to it. Wonder what it will take for him to lose his fear of dying. I'm thinking a gorgeous lady by his side.

Mina! Hi! How's it going? Did you see my request for a sig? Hint hint. You always made such good ones.

Miz Kateloves, found a Sparrobeth fanfic where he was explaining about his booboos and scars--whole very hot chapter on such--fan fic is the Haunting Place. He has the P on his right forearm, a gift from the sorry s.o.b. Beckett (That's my grandmother's curse words y'all, used infrequently and with total disgust) and the bullet wounds upper right chest, then the ugly burn-y looking scars on his left inside forearm. Story goes that is why he hates the Spanish so desperately, becos they tortured him with hot oil. Made sense in matching the scar to the story. Delightful heroine too. Talks about the Pearl as a spirit that welcomes her boy home to her. Loved that image. His lady mate in this little story was fine.

Love the idea that the new woman will be a spitfire--what a funny term for a spicy lively woman-girl. It'll all be worth it for the look on her face when Jack comes thundering in, sword in high guard, look of the very angry divil on his face that someone would affront what's his, hoists and steals her to safety. And the delightful ways he can make her squirm and sputter, how soft her face will be when she finally "sees" him, the frustration she will feel when her lips and arms betray her and reach for him. And she will...

For Sparrobeth, when you know in your heart it is the truth, just becos you weren't shown the way in AWE, doesn't make it for naught. I truly believe this mighty swell of faith and sweetness shows the way. Doesn't have much to do with the Fountain--that's just the point of sail. Now the adventure...that's where we are off the maps piratistas. I do know this classy, intelligent gathering of Sparrobeth has the heart to see past where AWE ends. Jack's story doesn't end, nor Elisabeth's nor Will's. It's life, the pulsing of blood in the vein.

Me, I hope there's more--call it anything you may desire--make it so we send in our $5 or $10 and eventually there's a DVD that never sees a theater--just comes directly to us.

I just want that FEELING, that joy, that ALIVENESS--what rocks me to my very soul. I want to BELIEVE(like Jack--I think he and I got so badly burned and abused by things/people in our past--that we decided to be hard and cold and never never let anyone hurt us again forgetting we were good people) and say life is good and mean it to my toes. In believing that Jack can love, give, trust and inspire, I win back some of that for myself.

Aren't we a fortunate bunch to have been so swayed, won to a delicate balance of love and hope?

Wow, what a paragraph. I think you should write a fic with this lively woman you've described so well. This got me hot really quick, so I know a story out of you will be fantastic. Once again, tex, I LOVE your optimism and cheerfulness.

TEX!!! You *have* to write this, it would be amazing!!! 😄 😄 😄 😄

Willo, loved your interpretation of the multiple Jack scene, hit it right on the dot...or...dots as it were, lol.

Okay, as promised, I bring a new fic called "Living in the Memories" - a sparrabeth (of course!) fic that takes place when Elizabeth is young and ends as an alternate opening to COTBP 😉 Here be the link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3870255/1/

(^^This is the fic that was based of that one piece of fanart with a younger Jack/Liz)

i just watched the peas in a pod scene, and then the curiosity scene ,and then the kiss scene.

all i can say is, j/l forever. WE WERE RIGHT. 🙂

Such beautiful scenes. I can't decide which I like best. I very much like peas in a pod and had that been left in, I think the whole series might have gone a slightly different route. It's the first time they have some actual down time where they can be honest with each other. The look Jack gives her. I just melted the first time I saw it, and then when she locks eyes with him...it's enough to make any sane girl forget about what's-his-name.

Absolutely adorable.

Hey Guys-
Just a new member testing out his writing- thought i'd revisit that swordfight theme from like 150 pages ago-

(Jack and Liz have had a little disagreement involving one of Jack's more dubious ventures- They begin to fight, on the table of the smoky bar where she went to look for him)
Jack- I must say, love, I'm rather sick of you're trying to kill me. It's just not good manners.
(Liz says nothing, concentrated entirely on the whirling dance of the swordfight)
Jack- What's that... cat's got you're tongue? Well anyway love, this time at least you won't manage anything.
Liz- Will taught me how to weild a sword you know
Jack- If I remember correctly, Will's never beaten me in a fight... At least not wtihout some bloody slimeball hitting me in the head with a bottle
Liz- You won't lay so much as a finger on me Jack
Jack- Oh really, love. We'll see about that, won't we (Jack grabs Liz' arm, pulling her in close to him- her sword flies away)
Liz- What are you doing! That's no way to fight!
Jack- Pirate
(He holds her tightly, resistant to her squirming)
Liz-Let me go, you filthy scoundrel!
Jack- I can't possibly smell that bad, can I love
Liz- (laughs slightly) Jack Sparrow, you will let me go and continue this fight in an honorable manner or
Jack- Captain. Captain Jack Sparrow, and i wouldn't call it much of a fight. I've got you in a hug, and you're squirming like you've been stung by something unpleasant. Seems more like a family reunion than a fight to me.
Liz- (laughing again) You never cease to be difficult, do you
Jack (Turns her around and kisses her deeply) Never.

Well, whodathunkit...thanks so much for your intriguing words Miz WilloftheWisp--I never imagined naming her, just thought about her from what all had been said and saw her, hands on hips, nose to nose with Jack over something. I'm curious now too, to find out if she'll show more of herself. Thank you dearest, for offering this possibility.
