[BWith Jack, you'd have to blind to not see the instant attraction and fascination in her eyes upon first seeing him! A connection far more impressionable than the connection Will and Liz had when she first met him. [/B]
I agree...in the extended version of the scene we see the medallion changing the wind and all and u get an even bigger impression of their meeting. like WOW dude something's happening, what's up with the medallion?
Sometimes I wonder if the chemistry between them would still be there if it was another actor or actress...but then u read the script and u realize they could replace JD(which would make jack a dull boy but i won't get into that) and keira and the characters would still be begging to pounce on one another.
ImpPiDiva, I, well, love ya madly Piratista, respect and honor your esteemed opinion....however:
😱 Break required!!! 😱 She was 12 when she met Will!!
come on, she had all her clothes on--not so with Jack-- 😱 she hadn't had a near death experience, so with Jack--She hadn't been oxygen deprived-- as she was with Jack😱 she wasn't contending with the first blush of raging hormones all headed everywhere except her brain, twice blessed with Jack 😱 Impressed uh,yeah!
And, as I think of it, she was in the presence of 😱 Captain Jack Sparrow--TADA!! (Rock star of the period, she "knew" all about him from reading penny dreadfuls, she was totally flapped--imagine being pulled from the water by Mr. Depp--or going to McDonald's whatever and you turn around and He's Right There In Line!! Would you, me, me, you, we go a bit off our usual demeanor?? Go ahead and try to answer that one with a no, not me.... 😉 uh huh.)
She was still doing her fiercely protective thang that she did/does--she was still protecting a pirate (known) instead of a pirate (suspected). She was still defying her papa and society (Norrington). She was still hiding info from whomever. She still wanted her own way. She thought Jack "despicable" becos he wasn't acting like she imagined he should have been acting. She didn't mind that he had escaped or was going to escape, she expected that--she just didn't imagine he was going to use her for his escape package.
Next time she sees him is on the Pearl when she's being gangplanked, right? She's knocked out and Will steals her away prior to Jack making his move. She then gets disappointed again when he doesn't "do something" on Rum Island. Er, and where are I going....? Well, now that's a good question.....
Lol, tex. Everyone can sense the sparrabeth enthusiasm.
DMC plot question, and I didn't want to make a new thread for it, so maybe you guys can help me. Jack either breaks in or purposely gets captured so he can go into that prison and get the drawing of the key, right? Okay, so since he admits later he didn't know where the key was, what good did it do knowing what it looked like? Why does he choose to see Tia Dalma and ask her about it only AFTER Will joins him? If he knows the location, he wouldn't really have to know what it looked like. Is this compass/sparrabeth related in any way, or is there something else going on? I'm confused.
I thought, but I don't know, that Jack hide on the island as long as he could. But when WIll came to find him he told him that Lizzie is in danger, that makes Jack to try everything posible to save her and so risk his life. That's why he needs to find the key to save him and then her as well.
Hope it makes sence?!

He knew Davey Jones had the chest--he needed to know what the key looked like so he could find the key--the compass was going to get him to the chest. Again playing his cards close to his vest--can't let the crew know what's going. He went to Tia Dalma becos he wanted help finding the chest and his compass wasn't doing it for him. Really just seems like it's Jack's confusion reigning.
Ok, so according to what's been said, Jack figures he needs the key before the chest. He needs to know what the key looks like first because he would like to avoid seeing Tia Dalma (because she's scary and it would alert the crew something was up?). He meets up with Will and decides maybe seeing Tia would actually be a good idea, so he goes to find out where the key is and sends Will on the dutchman to get it, believing the compass will point out where the chest is?
okay..good question...i think ur right about the answer...
Jack had heard the stories before and didn't really need to see Tia Dalma. did he go into the prison to get the whole STORY and then got the drawing of the key as a bonus? did he know the story and just wanted to know what the key looks like? i dunno
he was confused and vexed and not very much himself.i guess his plan was to get the key(if the compass would let him) until the spot turned up and then his only plan was to get out of the sea...
when Willy shows up jack instantly turns into a man with a plan. AHA! he's desperate! I could use that to my benefit...but wait! i can't let him know that im leading him to his doom. maybe I should let tia tell them the story and maybe she'll give me a little trinket along the way eh??
and then they get to tia's and he obviously knows the story. he tries to use it against jones later ("betrothed...seprating him from her...et cetra"😉 and even chimes in while they're in the hut ("A woman!"😉
'you knew this!"
"no i didn't! i didn't know where the key was..."
i believe that. he was telling the truth...he didn't know where the key was for certain but this confirms his hunch and off they go.
after that i don't think he ever meant to get the 99 souls for jones but he was stalling. waiting for his compass to work...and the rest was luck...
one thing though. i don't understand.if jack could convince elizabeth that what she wanted most was the chest...why couldn't he convince will that what he wanted most was the key(to save elizabeth of course) and save the trip to tia's? perhaps he knew will would see his father on the dutchman and he wanted Will to have the knowledge about the heart...so he would want to stab it n free his father?
I think who Jack tells about his compass has to do with trust. This is a sparrabeth-leaning answer, so I don't know if it's the technical right answer, but I think he gives Liz the compass because he trusts her. I don't think he feels comfortable being quite that honest with Will. He doesn't even fill Gibbs in on what the compass does. In the DMC commentary, one of them notes how important it is that Jack not only tells her what the compass does and lets her use it, but he lets her KEEP it. He doesn't have it back in his possession until after the chest is found. So I think it's just his comfort level with people.
Yeah, we were kind of talking about that before and just touched on that. Her dad is dead, James is dead, Sao is dead, etc. She's ruined a lot of guys' lives and as far as she knows, she and Will are over too. So her only allies up to the parlay scene are Jack and Barbossa, but Jack seems to have made it clear he's either over her or keeping his distance from her, whatever. But it's during parlay that she realizes Jack and Will already came up with a plan, that Jack would be the one to stab the heart.
That leads me to believe that she realizes Will still loves her, which is nice, but can they trust each other? I thinks she's still doubting if they can last and she's given up on not only Jack, but all the other men in her life. So I think the technical right answer is that she does love Will, but enough has happened to her to lead me to believe she thought Will was sort of the only option other than remaining single.
Hi! I'm fairly new here and thought I'd drop in on my favorite couple's thread. heehee I kinda thought that the whole wedding scene was brought on by desperation. It was sorta like, "Hey, we're gonna die anyway, so let's get married." It was completely out of the blue, given the direction their relationship was going. I have no idea what the writers were thinking with that scene...
(I'm about a year too late for this rant, but I guess there's no time like the present. heehee) When I heard that Willabeth had happened, I was pretty shocked. And heartbroken. I raced off to Youtube to watch depressing vids and contemplate about what could have been. I ended up sobbing and swore to myself that I wouldn't watch AWE in theaters or pay any money to rent it after. I eventually saw it a few months after it came out on DVD and enjoyed every minute of the falling apart of Willabeth and Will's death. I was pretty loud and my family prolly thought I needed to go the insane asylum. lol Sparrabeth forever!!!
*giggles*
potc fever sorta came back a bit for me when my dad got me and my bro a new psp- can't stop playing the POTC game on it!
the day after that I dreamt about meeting Johnny- he has this scene to shoot in our house and i was soooo shy at first but eventually i got around to taking a pic and an autograph lol...
