Superman: Man of Steel

Whats sad about this is the fact that it's so easy to make a great Superman movie but....leave it to the hands of ole "kiss a man i the mouth" singer and you get SUPERMAN 90210.
that equals emotional, overly emotional, soft spoken low cut tights wearing superman saving a woman who has kids from another guy causing homewrecking.
Let me direct a Superman film and you would get what we deserve: a superhero kicking ass, saving citizens and not taking names.

Talk about exaggerating.
What about my post was an exaggeration?

It looks meh because it got more than 21 million views in less than one week and is going to be a better movie than Downeyman 3. Did you look at the posters who said it was meh? Stilt hates everything super as does Entity aka I-drop. I can't say about Tzeentch although blaming SR for the reason people won't see this movie is a laughable way to say "I don't want to see this movie".
That's kind of an idiotic thing to say, considering the second line in my post was "I'll see it". But please, say something else clownish.

I think you exaggerate how bad Returns was.

It was boring and could have been much much better, but its hardly Superman's Batman & Robin.

BTW I'm not saying you made that claim. Its just that for a movie to thoroughly ruin a franchise and name as big as Superman it has to be epic in the scale of bad and Batman & Robin takes the cake. Eventhough Superman 3 & 4 did have their fun ruining Superman lol.

I actually liked Returns, and can't understand why people hate it so much.

But I, literally, don't know a single person IRL who likes Returns. That it did lackluster in the box office, and came off the heels of Superman 3 and 4 (ugh), is telling. imo

Yep and Batman Begins was still a success despite being the first attempt after Batman & Robin.

The the time gap between those movies is the same as the gap we're getting between SR and MOS.

Also if no one was interested in Superman anymore then Smallville wouldn't have lasted 10 seasons (even though they should have finished it earlier Imo).

I hope it is bigger and better than IM3 but I think your being a bit overconfident.

IM3 has Downey and the success of the Iron Man movies and the Avengers mega triumph all backing it up.

What EXACTLY is the relevance of Singer kissing a man on the mouth in regards to the movie he made?

Here's to hoping MoS brings the things we enjoy about the Superman character, not just "kicking ass".

It would be a better movie if he does, though, wouldn't it?

We don't need another boring love-letter to Donner.

We really don't need another love-letter to Donner, but that wasn't my point at all. Poster seemed to imply there was relevance (or rather, derogatorily mentioned) as to what Singers sexual orientation is, which I find troubling.

Bryan Singer made a Superman movie that a lot of people didn't like, but what does that have to do with his sexual orientation?

Btw, I'm looking forward to Man of Steel. I'm looking forward to a more action-oriented Superman - but that doesn't mean I think he should just fly around and "kick ass" because that would be even LESS of a Superman movie in my book. Bring on the action, but ground the movie in his more noble aspects. Aka, fulfill the promise of the trailer.

Agreed about Singer. As much as I dislike him as a director, it's nothing to do with who he kisses.

I don't think the poster your referring to was actually making a point regarding Singer's sexual preference. He probably just hates Singer for what he did to Superman like a lot of us do. (I also hate him for what he did to Cyclops!)

But tbh Superman Returns does feel like a woman directed it.

Better than him just flying thinking of Lois. That's all I remember when I think of SR.

Supes was a fkn creeper in Returns. WTF was Singer thinking facepalm

Why refer to his man-mouth-kissing if it wasn't intentional? It's pretty easy not to refer to it if you don't want to.

Superman flying around and simply kicking ass without grounding him would be worse in my book. I don't even know what it means that it feels like a woman directed it. Are women particularly known for overt allegories and lackluster action?

Anyway, I know what I read in the original post. Either way, I hope MoS delivers because it does look promising. Heck, they even convinced me that it may be time to move away from John Williams - something I would've never thought I was ready for.

Perhaps the fact Clark was emoing over Lois and the whole twilight-like love triangle? I dunno. To me it feels like a 85 year old wrote it. Long, boring, disjointed and never ending.

Yeah, go on about how the movie is meh with only a small clip available atm. You want to see a clown, go look into a mirror.

I said its going to be better than the same old one-liners from Downeyman, not necessarily a bigger hit.

Abhi, you can like the movie without hating on something else.

That's technically baiting, you know.

Yeah, I said the movie looks meh based off of the trailer.

Calm your fanboyism. Superman isn't a real person.

I said ages ago it's time to ditch that score. As classic as it was, we need to let go of Donner's movies now and move on to what will hopefully be an Epic Reboot.

LOL Sounds like someone's jealous of IM's success and the awesomeness Downey brought to that character.

Honestly, while I don't mind a more modern score to a point, it would be like doing a Star Wars movie without the intro music. It might work and suit what's on screen, but for a lot of people, you want to hear it when the movie is on.

John Williams is a victim of his own success. His Superman theme is THE Superman theme. It gets used in everything from video games to youtube videos.
