make superman extremely conscious of the preciousness of life. Though they might also be trying to distance themselves from nolans "break your one rule" theme. Also guys please use tags.
Spoiler:
The thing is, of course Superman will kill when there's no other option but to do so in order to save people. But, one of the main points of Superman, is that he will always find a way. His clarity in morality and thinking is above us all - and eventough you might be able to put him in a situation where there's "you either save A or B, and that's final", you shouldn't. There should always be 'option C' for him. It's fiction and Superman, I don't need it to be depressing where even he can't find a better way other than to kill his opponent. Protect the idea of Superman - of the guy who will always find the way to do the right thing and save everybody, and don't try to bring him into 'our' world and have him succumb to 'our' solutions.
'Whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow got it right:
Once he killed Mxy, he destroyed what Superman represented - so he retired. That's how it ended.
Man of Steel uses this event to start Superman, and eventough it might go in the direction of 'he saw what it will be like and he will never do it again', and eventough watching the movie, I'm sure everybody will think "It makes perfect sense, he had no other way", it will still be a mis-treating of the character.
The sad part? I think this film got Superman right in every other way. Just not, quite possibly the most important part.
Dark Horizons: Man of Steel has already recouped three quarters of the budget with advertisements and placeholders in movie

I agree with you to an extent. I just think this movie could be used to teach him that lesson so he wont repeat it in sequels.

It can be done,
Spoiler:
but I'm with Philo, Kal is about finding a way, he's the hero that goes the extra mile. I just hope that as you say there is some dramatic tension to it because of course, this being an adaptation I actually can deal with any kind of twisting the mythos, but if the movie is a success and they want to apply some murder-happy .
Wow. This movie is going to be something else. I like how it is looking so good that life long haters of Superman cannot deny how awesome it looks. A close friend of mine has always hated the character for being overpowered and "boring." He is now saying the movie is going to destroy everything else. Heh
Great time to be a Superman fan.
Originally posted by -Pr-👆 Exactly. I do agree with Philo, but this will work to Superman's benefit/relation to the general audience. It will help swallow his boyscoutness in future sequels IMO.

I'll probably see MOS on Monday the 16th at the first matinee (typically around noon). The theatre is less than a block from where I live. Though I doubt I will have the whole theatre to myself, like with Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness, I'm sure it will be fairly empty, so I won't have to worry about some Last Minute Louie (usually the tallest guy in the area) sitting down right in front of me just as the trailers are ending.

Hopefully that wont happen here in FL
you should contact the theater you go to today or tomorrow and see if they still have advanced tickets sale going on because I bought my Man Of Steel tickets last week

Has stadium seating not reached your city? Or am I just spoiled, because every theater I go to (Miami, Fl) has it, lol. 😛
Maybe....
Spoiler:
superman did kill the 3 kryptonians in the pocket universe. Who knows maybe there are similar reasons why he does what he does and feels remorse in the next movie as he did later on in comics. Costener also said maybe it would have been better to let the kids die in that bus instead of a young Clarke revealing his id. Maybe that has something to do with it.
