Superman often beats more powerful opponents - and I think is more to do with his popularity than actual ability. I think a Thanos vs Darkseid is a far more equal battle.

As for the thread itself, though - yeah, Thanos'll take Superman.
On Panel proof has Superman and Thanos more as peers than as one being higher up on the hierarchy than the other.
Supes has his "S" shield and Thanos has his "main badass" shield.
Both have insane durability when it's called for and have been proven to be above others time and time again. Both have insane tech and are good at thinking there way through situations.
To me, not just being one sided, thanos wins this fight hands down. Hes everything surfer is plus interest (by the way, I dont know why people keep bringing up drax beating thanos when thanos put up a shield to block drax then something behind thanos caught his attention and THEN thats when drax caught him by surprise). Thanos blasts has level numerous of planets, superman falls hard in this battle but get some good licks in.
