Energy blasts are not the same as physical hits. Thanos is known for absorbing and manipulating energy. Also by your logic Galactus' blast>>>Champions initial blows yet Thanos shields was crumbling.

Thanos meant for Champion to break through his shield. That was his whole plan. Thanos has erected much more potent forefields than the Champ one. That was erected due to his chair. He doesn;t have his chair for these battles so that shield is irrelevant. 😄

If you go to GL's respect page there are several scans that show GL shielding himself from Supernovas, containing black holes , etc.
Also remember that the crisis didn't affect the GLs so their pre-crisis feats (which are insane) are also valid.
