Superman speed will not, I repeat his speed will not be an issue. Thanos has fought beings that are faster Superman on a regular basis, Thanos who own Silver Surfer jock strap will utterly f**k up superman, bottom line. Only thing you can say is speed to give Superman an edge which is bs , when Thanos has shown he can handle speedsters and does it with perfection.

I wouldn't call Surfer a speedster. Yeah he has great straight line speed, but that only serves him in certain situations, like space battles.
Superman is far quicker in a cqc situation than Surfer. The idea that Superman will telegraph his speed by going straight at Thanos is wrong.
Supes, on top of his far greater speed is actually a smart fighter with tremendous MA skills. He never uses his speed in straight lines, that would make him a nightmare to Thanos in h2h.

If someone fires a gun at me do you think I will be fast enough to react to it? If Thanos is fast enough to react to someone with trans light speed and can also erect shields to protect his whole body at the same time what chance does superman have?
Add that to the fact Thanos is a lot more powerful, stronger, and more durable.

Really there's no top tier in Marvel/DC that uses cqc speed like Superman outside of the Flash and Zoom. Not even guys like Glads.

The shields won't win him the fight, but they'll prevent him from losing that I agree with.
Force block? That's what speed is for, evading force guns and such. And if Superman is already punching his face, shields won't be much of a factor, which would mean the fight has shifted to close quarters, giving Superman the advantage.

In a forum vs. matchup outside some group fight his whole attention will be on his opponent not Captain America.
Glads is faster than Superman. None of it's consistent either way, but the Surfer and Gladiator are fast as shite. As well as the Sentry. On cbr Glads destroys Superman because of his 100 times the speed of light feat. They are ignoring comics though and going solely off one feat ages ago which is laughable but the point is that feat is awesome.
Thanos wrecks Superman and in character Superman brawls, but even if he uses his speed Thanos can negate it.
