Eh? Where does it show that they're not in the sun. He wasn't in the sun for a long time, for sure. But I'd say fighting in the sun with no soak time leaves him at least as powerful as sitting in it for a while and fighting somewhere else.

And that version of superman was certainly strong (moving warworld, the size of a small moon). But thanos has busted a planet accidentally in a fistfight -- presumably one much larger than earth, given that earth is a very small planet. (earth = 100x moon in mass)

Superman is outmatched in the one area where he typically outclasses people -- strength. And, of course, thanos has many other powers....

I think I'm very accepting of others' opinions. But some opinions are more valid than others. I don't mind if people think superman can give thanos a good fight -- they can believe whatever they want to. What bothers me is when they try to logically or empirically justify that belief in odd and contorted ways. Or when they resort to deception or falsehood in lieu of argument.

Edit: to be clear, I'm not referring to you in "deception and falsehood", leo. I think you're quite wrong, but you've been fair enough in debate.

As a side note, that scan of Thanos turning a Skrull into stone...it was revealed later that Thanos actually mentally controlled the Skrull to turn himself into stone.

No matter manipulation feats to speak of. 😉

Listen Thanos is in another classification of strength beyong the Hulk and Gladiator or Champion. Don't you understand that he is perhaps the closest thing to raw strength without being a cosmic entity?

Orion without mother box and with the astro force is stronger than superman. Mother Box keeps Orion rage in check also his true strength which is suppress with mother box. Orion without mother box is like warrior madness thor 10x strength, Orion will be like warrior madness Thor in strength.

Thanos is far above superman it's sad. Thanos is class 100(7/7 excess 100 tons) he can increase it to unknown levels witch haven't been determined yet. Thanos is vastly powerful to manipulate any form of cosmic energy, psionic abilities, vast intelligence, excellent fighter etc Thanos has superman beat in every category except for speed which is not superman asset since Thanos can see beings at light-speed when he fought the fallen one. Thanos can crank his strength so high one punch will crack superman skull wide open, or transport superman into a red son. Thanos will own superman there is no reason he can't trying to compare thanos and darkseid is like trying to compare a ford mustang shelby cobra to the ford gt not in the same league. Thanos has fought beings that will crack superman ass in half and thanos alone has held his own and achieving his goal. Face it people Thanos will crumb stomp the sh** out of superman with in minutes. Thanos 10/10

Everybody automatically gives Thanos a huge strength edge. What are Thanos' most impressive strength feats? Do they exceed that of Superman's?

In fact, could someone list Thanos most impresive feats in the following areas:

Strength - including showings where he used his abilities to increase it
Reflexes/combat speed
Matter manipulation
Psionics
Energy projection
Durability

From there, we can compare them to those same dimensions that Superman has, and see if Thanos is indeed Superman's superior in all of those areas.

Anybody want to take wagers now on who will have the most impressive overall showings?

I'm not aware of this. And I have scans of the captain marvel comics where it appears. Where are you referring to?

If you're right, you're the only one who's found this. I've never heard this before.

You're fixated on superman.

Referencing her power on superman tells us nothing when superman's power is what we are trying to judge. The fact is, lois in a kryptonian warsuit pulled her off when superman himself could not break her grip.

I'm going to post a few scans indicating why I have a hard time believing superman in any incarnation (save superman prime) would have any chance against thanos. I'll also add these scans to the thanos respect thread, since the "feats" there are not so much feats as appearances (and most come before his vast upgrades by death, e.g. the instnace where he destroyed a planet in a fistfight occurred BEFORE death amped his power AT LEAST 10x)

Since when is Thanos stronger than Superman ? I really believe Superman is stronger, he has lots of impressive power feats. Thanos mostly has durability feats.

First scan shows mangog, a being who consistently thrashes thor throughout this storyline, as a thrall to a weak thanos clone (and there's no question the clones are weak; 4 of the 5 strongest can be beaten individually by warlock -- powerful but certainly not thanos powerful. And the thor clone is not one of the 5 strongest.)

Second scan shows firelord blasting thanos clone to no effect.

Third scan shows thor knocking back mangog with a blast from mjolnir.

Last scan shows thanos completely unaffected by the exact same sort of blast, immediately thereafter (this is prior to any boosting, as thanos is trying to get tarene's tears in order to amp his power)

Meaningless, but for anyone who's curious, thanos and parallax set against each other as equals in xover:

Thanos treating x-man and hulk like bugs, despite the fact that he is trapped in a pocket dimension and cut off from his source of cosmic energy.

Hulk's durabiltiy, everyone should know about. Nate grey is possibly the most powerful psychic in the marvel universe, has lifted cities with tk, and was flattening hulk with tk punches prior to this scene. Yet a bloodlusted tk blow to thanos' face is not even felt by an explicitly "weak" thanos.

Thanos fighting the avengers by himself. Not a particularly impressive feat, but note that one of the avengers does not seem too optimistic about their chances ("nothing can stop him"😉

Death, one of the 3 most powerful entities in the marvel universe, revealing that she has in fact mated with thanos to produce the rot, a weird black entity that is slowly consuming the universe -- including death itself!

Thanos is given his stolen power back from quoia (who is the "messiah" of the marvel universe, and the physical avatar of "life"😉, and flies off with death to destroy the rot, with universe shaking consequences. Everyone killed by thanos in this storyline is resurrected by the destruction of the Rot.

Death then proposes to thanos, who rejects her as being too weak for him.

Thanos spontaneously puts up a forcefield to shield a group of heros from omega, a thanos-galactus hybrid that is threatening the universe (galactus' equal, but unlike galactus, destroys for the fun of it, rather than out of hunger), then tps a house (with a few words to his remote tech) into space:

Thanos destroying multiple Galactus-created Punisher robots with ease. Surfer has been shown unable to harm Punishers, and a Punisher once KO'd the In-betweener, an abstract entity that balances order and chaos, with its fists: (warlock also destroys one punisher here, which is perhaps a bit of a stretch. But he's quite a powerhouse with the soul gem. And is KO'd immediately thereafter)

First scan here indicates that galactus is near full-power (one of the few appearances where this is the case, given that he usually encounters heros only will he needs to eat). Second scan indicates that galactus sees thanos coming. Third is self-explanatory.

Matter-manipulation/healing. Nothing special, really, but you don't see it happen often. Since thanos usually prefers the "smash and destroy" route.

Thanos defeating Maker, the current manifestation of Beyonder, a cube-being. PIS here since Maker should be able to blink thanos out of existence. But one could argue that she tried doing this earlier in the comic (when she vapored a crowd of people with thanos in the center, and thanos was the only who survived); thanos, after all, has been stated to be outside the reach of death, order, and chaos -- so why not a cube being, who is clearly lower on the cosmic chain of command?

Thanos against the fallen one, a galactus enemy who was released when thanos fought maker. (don't ask me how) He is a former herald of galactus who has found an independent source of energy (dark matter) and is now set on destroying his master.

Thanos is untouched by his nova attack (which vaporizes thanos' ship completely), then KO's him by pulling over an asteroid field. Fallen one's body falls and destroys the gas giant below (suggesting ~1000x the size of earth, a la jupiter); thanos is completely unscathed by the explosion. He then touches fallen one's KO'd head and makes him his thrall.
