Up until page 38 it seemed really good as a thread (having just read it), then it looks to have gone down hill.

well, it has good and bad patches. when the fanboy and anti-fanboys go at it, (and both thanos and superman have both--in spades!) then things tend to deteriorate.....quickly. pretty sure this was closed at least once at one point. but there was some good solid discussion in places.

You think any superman level hero is going to KO the thing with a flick of his fingers? At 1/100th strength?
Fine. But your interpretation makes no sense. THey show a fistfight with chunks of the planet flying all over the place. Then planet explodes and drax is KO'd. This isn't a hard interpretation.
And? Aren't you the one who has consistently stated that a few words mean nothing in the face of actual feats? Thanos has crushed hulk on numerous occassions.
Yes. And I've posted scans of this, from a vareity of sources, time and time again.
If you're not going to use fights, what are you going to use? If anything, fights are the best test. Everything else is merely intellectual. What matters is how much strength you can pack in a punch, not how much you can push.
And even in the latter department, superman is vastly outclassed. He maxes out at 1 earth moon while sundipped. Unless you take a completely bizarre interpretation of this pic:

good times. i STILL boggle that that initial thanos ko'ing of ben scan was seen so clearly to be an example of pure strength. geezzz..... no wonder i nearly had an aneurysm debating this thread....

i think everyone agreed with that tbh. the big thing back then was the belief that thanos was 1000x stronger than superman. that idea derailed the thread for a while. like the odin/galactus thing, it became an issue of the magnitude of the difference. ie--how good a fight could superman put up, and just how much stronger IS thanos than superman. everyone agreed that in straight up power, thanos is greater. or, almost everyone did....
