Just who is the lead FX house on this? Is it WETA Digital?
Because interestingly, there is lots of representation for New Zealand in this production (even though it was shot in the USA):

Director - Martin Campbell
Actors - Temuera Morrison, Taika Waititi
Production Designer - Grant Major (from LOTR)
Costume Designer - Ngilia Jackson(also from LOTR)

Having seen the trailer, I can accept Reynolds as Deadpool or even, at a stretch, Wally West's Flash. As Hal Jordan? No. Just, no.

This film looks very disappinting, even now.

i think the movie looks brilliant....but that's because i have come to accept the fact that Ryan will not live up to Hal....soo im gonna pretend he has a different name.....lol

Of course, we now seem to be assuming this film will be made. That is still very much in doubt. I'd be surprised if we had a GL film in the next 5 years, to be honest.

Well, they came in under budget at three years, from the start of the thread. So...props to them. 🍺

Here's a site giving you a frame-by-frame analysis of the suit transformation.

Why didn't they jus stick with Ryan in a Wally West Flash movie?

I think this is gonna suck such big balls with totally out of character acting and terrible CGI. All that coulda made a good Flash movie thou, he's perfect for Wally and all the effects you really need for Flash is red streaks and some good slow down around you scenes like with matrix or underworld style IMO

I think it looks good, some of the CGI may not be complete yet, and the suit is suppose to look CGI cause it's made by the ring and not some clothes he puts on. IMO these comic book movies CANNOT be the same as the comic them selves, they have to try and appeal to a wider audience. hence some changes in the character and origins etc.

Well, my anticipation for this movie dropped significantly after seeing the trailer. The stuff on Oa looks awesome, but other than that I'm pretty disappointed by what I'm seeing - Ryan Reynolds as Hal, the questionable CGI, the comedic tone, the "romance," Hector Hammond looks kind of ridiculous... I don't know, this could be bad. At best it'll be DC's equivalent to Iron Man, which is still sad cause it should be different; and it had the potential to be way more than an action/comedy (it shouldn't be a comedy at all really). That said, I'll obviously still have to wait until I actually see the whole movie.

I really don't know why people are having a hard time with the comedic tone of the trailer; Hal is a hotshot pilot who's a bit of a playboy. He has to have a certain charm to him, and when you consider the fact that they had to treat his origin as the modern story, not his current status, then he was going to have to be somewhat amusing imo.

Plus, Hal is actually a more cocky character than Wally. I actually think Reynolds suits him better (as wally isn't really that much of a comedy guy).

I liked the trailer to be honest, and will reserve final judgment until I see the movie.

I wonder if the average movie goer is thinking "How many of these guys alter-egos are hotshot playboys?" by now. 😛

Not unless they ask someone thats into comics or look it up themselves.

Well, it's not like we saw it much before Iron Man.
Clark Kent is stiff and polite...
Bruce Wayne only pretends to be a playboy...
Logan is a surly thug with rough edged charm...

And it's not like we'll see womanizing behavior out of Thor or Captain America next summer.

This movie is going to suck more than the first Hulk movie.

To me it comes with the territory of being a superhero
Batman, ironman, the flash, green lantern and green arrow
To name a few are like that

im not sure flash or green lantern really fall under the hot shot playboy category...

It won't really be Parallax. It will be Hector Hammond infected by a piece of Parallax after examining Abin Sur's body too closely, so he gets his mental powers from a different source than in the comics. I bet they will hold Parallax back in it's entirety until the second film at least.
And we'll see how Sinestro plays a part in its rise.

i was kinda figuring you would get a glimpse at him close to the ending or something...(kinda how in rise of the silver surfer Big G's head cast a shadow on that planet...it was shaped just like his head in the comics) maybe in a different way like in a reflection you see his form moving but to fast to focus on exactly

We'll see how they foreshadow things. They were talking excitedly at one point about fast tracking two sequels to Green Lantern quickly.

The only thing for me thats putting me off for the movie is the comedy but besides that i'm interested.
