Let me take a shot in the dark though... does it have spoken work lyrics (I use the word "lyric" very loosely) about jewelry/drugs/money/guns/hoes written to a nursery school rhyme scheme read over 10 seconds of computer generate beats created by drum machine and repeated on an infinite loop? 😈

I didn't insult the music you like. This is just another one of those "Charged" statements. Like the House Party comment, or the Oj Comment, or the "He's Black" comment.

"He listens to rap so we already know that he doesn't have any taste"?

Have you ever heard Canibus, Most Def, Talib, Xzibit, Red Man, Biggy, Pac, Mr. Scarface, Common, Cardinal Official, KRS 1, Busta Rhymes, Ghost Face, Luda, Black Moon, (etc.,etc., etc.) spit?

My vernacular is carefully constructed to drop jewels fools. thats what my musical heritage did for me. while you guys warped the music of my dad and uncles' generations. and every other form of music that came after (including Hip-Hop. And the industry aided death of so called "Back pack Rap"😉.

And what?

Actually I take offence to that. Rapping isnt talking. freestyling is very difficult so is mixing. Alot of producers play musical instruments and then create their beats and then theirs breakdancing.....

Also not all rapping is about being a gangsta.

Yeah a fictional mystical background were african people have striaght white hair and blue eyes.

Stright hair is NOT indigenous to whites or anyone.

It is a form or adaption to enviroment.

Africans do not have to be "mixed" to have certain hair textures or eye colors.

It's adaption and features vary GREATLY across the continent.

You can find almost every facial feature and hir texture on the continent.

It's a genetic FACT.

Actually your probably right. There are some Africans with Red skin, but do you think thats the reason why they made Storm like that?

Nobody cares wether its exactly, 3 percent, ok? Got it? Theres nothing to argue about.. 😐

Not wanting to start anything or even get involved to much in this whole deabte, as for starters I don't mind if Hudlin promotes Black heroes over white ones.

I just don't think hes that good a writer end of story but thats my opinion and as I stated earlier in this thread (WWWAAYYY earlier) his anger spills over into his writing.

But if people like his style more power to them, to me its like if you think a TV program is bad, no one is stopping you from changing the channel and no one is forcing you to read the books Hudlin writes.

I just wanted to try and put to bed the whole 3% issue for Black mutants.

As I understand it there are 198 mutants total correct?

So 3% would be 6 Black mutants, with me so far?

And we have said that 10% would be a more acceptable number for black mutants, so that would be around 20 Black mutants.

Off the top of my head I know of the following mutants who are still alive, black and have their powers.

Bandit
Bedlam (death is still uncomfirmed)
Bishop
Bling
Darwin (Half Black Half Latino)
Debri
Doorman
Gateway (yes aborignal but are we talking skin colour or african american?)
Storm
Sunspot
Ligthbright
Cloak
Pathway

Thats 13 mutants off the top of my head and I would think there would be a few more, so that comes to 6.5% right there which is headed in the right direction for the acceptable 10%

If you are talking about mutants who are active in books currently then you can take a lot of them out and you would come up with a figure close to the 3% mentioned.

I just wanted to clafrify where the 3% figure came from.

Nice work but I didnt factor in Bishop or Gateway. Im glad aborignal characters are added but im mainly concerned with black african characters. I didnt count in Bedlam because he was considered dead as far as I knew. I didnt count in Cloak because he wasnt born with his powers...so I dont see why hes a mutant. 😕 Has there been a retcon?

I stated earler on that eventhough it was good that aborignals characters were included I was more interested in Black African characters....because im black African. So I did not consider Bishop and Gateway. I did not consider Bedlam because it was stated he was dead and I dont see how Cloak is a mutant when he wasnt born with his powers. So that would be nine.

Ok Fair enough they have to be black africans, I thought Bishop was only part Aborignal though?

As for Cloak and Dagger.

Cloak and Dagger received their powers from an experimental drug given to them against their will by agents of Silvermane. It was later revealed that they were both actually mutants

So according to Marvel Cloak is very much a mutant, good old Marvel and retcons.

Bedlams death has yet to be confirmed as far as I am aware so he is merely missing, if his death has been confirmed in comics I have yet to read then I will conceed him.

I wasn't trying to attack you by the way, just establish where the estimation came from.

Well I thought he wasnt. I'll have to check on that.

Meh, well I hope they bring him back. I thought he was pretty cool. Shola Inkosi as well.

Yeah sorry. I edited my post after re-reading what you said. 😮

Just because something is classic doesn't make it good or even rational.

House Party is good.

Maybe so, maybe not.

There's no mistaking that Storm is a Black woman whether her hair is white, her eyes are blue or whatever.

I don't really think a long white weave and blue eyes matter much to whites when your skin is chocolate brown.

Now, I can see if they made her kinda "off-white" or more of a Mestizo look, then yea, but she's BLACK, especially during her conception in the mid-seventies.

I can't stand the dipictions where they make her look like a white woman with a tan. 😘

I thought that was the meaning of classic, old but good. To quote the Flash in DK2 "The problem with you kids is that you dont know the difference between old and classic."

In all hoensty is doesnt bother me that much. Marvel have done a good job with black women. Remember Captain Marvel she was really powerful.

It doesn't bother you that a person with no range of vocals, no musical aptitude can become a famous "musician" by scribbling down a few pointless sentences in a AB,AB rhyme scheme? There are a few exceptions but as a whole the genre exists by rehashing the same gangster-babble over and over again. There is nothing thought provoking about rap lyrics, and the genre only it exists for the sole purpose of perpetuating negative stereotypes... Is rap the musical legacy you want to leave to future generations? A genre of music that glorifies violence, drug use... and pretty much every thing that is wrong with society to day and yet requires little to no actual musical ability?

Of course I have. I'm a white male between the ages of 12 and 35. I'm their target audience. 😎

Your list is pretty much the embodiment of the what I described though... all though I give Mos Def some props and Kardinal has heavy reggae influenced (but still lousy even though he is Canadian). I could maybe understand listening to Kaos or The Roots or something, but that list is... is... oh never mind.

Your vocabulary is made to drop Jewel's fools? What does that even mean? 😕

I don't want to start a flame war on this, so I won't reply to any responses to this post. You are entitled to listen to what ever you want. You like rap? All the power to you! Enjoy it now... because when you are a grown up you'll know what I was talking about.

again, if you think a relatively small amount of people making racially charged statements is a reason to condemn not only an entire race, but to specifically attack a wide group of industry professionals for their white skin only is still imbecilic. that kind of oneupsmanship is the shit that starts race riots, propogates racism, and is generally reserved for the 1950s. if comments like that were made, there isn't an excuse for them. but "be the bigger man" isn't just something you say to kids getting beat up on the playground.

also, demonizing rap or hip hop isn't an anti-black sentiment. it's a gross oversight on the genre, but it's not racist.

You've got your view, and I respect that.

However, If you don't get it, you don't get it.

The same could be said about Rock.

That, my friend, is a whole other topic (*cough* industry *cough*).

to coin a phrase:

"You might listen to Jimmy." "But, you can't hear Jimmy"

That's not what I said. But it means that there is great knowledge in what i say, and it has been broken down in such a way as to Teach as well as entertain.
you just have to know where to look, and what to listen for.

Ex. Slave Spirituals were Jewel encrusted.

Ex. Hip Hop used to be, and in SOME cases still is, Jewel encrusted
(Huge Nas fan. Kanye ain't bad either.)

Ex. If you read comics the way I do some of them are Jewel encrusted.

Ex. Art can be Jewel encrusted.

Also, if the "Game" is to be "Sold" and not "Told",

Then the phrase "Dropping Jewels" refers to me giving a "Know-notta" (youngin, if you will) some Game (inside tip/knowledge/schoolin) on the low (free of charge).

[i]Enjoy it now... because when you are a grown up you'll know what I was talking about.

You mean like rock guys from the 70's and 80's can't stand the rock of the 90's and 00's?

Fair.

I added the bolds, but otherwise left the post untouched.

Is this kind of thing common on other boards? Does everyone get threatened with lynching when they write a comic book that people don't like, or is it just black writers?

Who wants to be the first one to offer justification (make an excuse)?

Who thinks this is NOT racially motivated?

Is it accurate? Funny?

Holla bidack?

I think it's not racially motivated. Especially since you were kind enough to leave in the part where he says:
"You think i actually give a crap about McDuffie? I love and care more for Silver Surfer then this sharkbait if i ever get my hands on him."

He's insulted by the writing and if you think that was racial you're pretty clearly looking for insults.

Funny? Sure. Accurate? Yeah, it was piss poor writing and even McDuffie has admited it.

Thank you sir.

It just gets frustrating when people act this kind of thing CAN'T happen anymore.

Or that I'm some how "misunderstanding" the tone.

Also, I meant: "This has nothing to do with Hudlin's writing." (thanx 4 letting that slide 😄 )
