I wish they'd do a GTA4: Tokyo or something, that'd be mad...gain rep with Japanese mafia, learn a couple of martial arts moves, and everything would be nice and bright and neons and everything instead of the run down San Andreas type of environments.
R* is trying to make the game as realistic as possible. even the slightest bump will be reflected in the car, not all surface would be even, and I think just like in real life, you'll have to watch for holes and stuff if you don't wanna screw up the car' suspension.
physics is getting improved all around the game. and so it's AI. zooming around everywhere wouldn't be the best way to get things done, I don't think you can crash everything in your path, without getting notice (specially with the new "wanted" mechanics). For what I read, you car won't blow up for anything other than explosives (I'm guessing only grenades, rockets or driving it through any kind of inflammable outlets (such the gas pump in the trailer)).
I wonder how much will that affect the enjoyment of the franchise. I personally love going around creating has much mayhem as possible, blowing s**t up. I remember in SA driving my car up the freeway above LS, getting out of it and seeing how much of a pile up I could make ( (I got about 17 blown up cars once)
