Grand Theft Auto IV

saints row was a lot of fun imho. while certainly overshadowed and outclassed by gta4,
it had far better customizable characters and vehicles, roaming gang members you can summon, but best of all insurance fraud (god that was fun)

Saints Row was a very enjoyable game that was pretty much a GTA placeholder. It did a lot of thigns that GTA should try, the garage system namely. I just thought they tried to hard on the humor side, no one will ever have that R* touch.

Yeah, it was a very good game.

It doesnt have the GTA touch but it does a few things alot better than GTA4, namely the shooting and fighting.

I played it again last night and I'm still having trouble with the gun controls. Maybe its me, but how do you shoot from cover and keep on shooting. Whenever I shoot from cover, it takes one shot and I go back down. For an semi auto weapon, its ****ing annoying.

Also the cover system is broken too. He looks cool going into cover, but its just not user friendly. Last, but definitly not least is the whole idea of pushing the trigger down half way to free aim. Yeah, that was a great idea Rockstar. Even autoaim is crap. Countless times I've targeted the wrong person, or somebody who is just walking somewhere.

The reason I'm annoyed is because the action scenes could be really, really cool if I wasnt annoyed by the gun controls.

Doesnt help that I played the last two on the PC.

You gotta hold the R Trigger. I know the cover isnt perfect, but compared to the previous GTA games on teh consoles, its incredible. 😛

So how's the online on this game?

With a semi auto gun, it doesnt keep on shooting, it goes right back into cover.

So if Im using the handgun, it only takes one shot.

Well, its strange, but now its works.

Same with the thing about going through the windshield. I never ever went through until I got into Algonquin, and now I go through all the time.

Same with the gun, the handgun just started to shoot more than once while my finger was pressed against the button.

Another thing I wish GTA, and Rockstar North could learn from Saints Row is the idea of checkpoints on missions. Would it kill them to allow savepoints when you go to different parts of the mission. For example, I drive a guy to the point, and then go up the building to snipe somebody and then attack, and then died from a grenade I didnt even see, and then have to restart the whole thing from the point I start the mission.

If you commit a crime, then steal a car, do the cops automatically target you as soon as you're in sight, or do they have to 'figure out' that you're in another car?

2 long weeks before I can play...

I've gotten into a new car and the cops seemed to not follow me, but as soon as I got into their line of sight, then immediately chased me.

Oddest thing just happened to me.

I was driving along, and managed to slightly hit a car, I thought nothing of it at first, and started moving on when I suddenly noticed screaming and fire. I backed up, and the driver of the car was rolling on the ground screaming, while burning, after a bit the tire of her car also caught on fire. I was standing next to my car watching her burn when all of a sudden the car exploded, taking with it half of my car and two other cars. There were cops around and I did not get credited by the explosion, so I have no idea how she caught on fire, but it was pretty cool to watch.

Strange.

With the physics engine, alot of crazy shit happens.

I like how driving a taxi into a canal will warrant you a 6 star rating but running people over won't even get you one star.

I literally took cover behind some dirt and blasted cops for 20 minutes, blew up their cars and tried to shoot down their heli's and I could only get a 5 star rating.

Was this incident after you unlocked Algonquin or before?

I've gotten 6 stars from accidently going to another part of the city before unlocking it (hurry for swimming); one of my friends did by riding the train.

I've also gotten 6 stars by hiding at the top of a staircase with a rocket launcher and shooting the cops as they try and come after me.

It's not easy to get 6 stars but it's possible 😛

Yeah, you cant cross the bridge until they tell you too.

Yes i'm being dead serious. 😐

And it was at the start of the game, i did the first two missions at that time.

for people having trouble with autolocking, i find its best to turn it on/off depending on the mission. my own rule is to turn it off when there are civilians around, to keep it from locking on them while the enemy is gunning you down. in an enemy-only area, i leave it on for quicker kills. for instance, when you're raiding the construction site, autolock is essential since there are so many enemies and no civilians.

I havent had many problems with autolock, I have gotten pretty use to only half squeezing the trigger in moments when I really need to.

Funniest thing happened to me yesterday

I was running from the police and my car was wrecked so i jumped out and tried to grab another. While im running across the street i get hit by a car and i fall to the ground but the car keeps going. The car then runs me over and i die so it hits the slow motion screen while im dying

since the car is over my body it does a close up of the car and its an old lady inside, so the camera is in the passenger seat and the old lady looks into the camera with a smile, at this point im laughing because of this.... and out of no where she says

"Idiot"

with a smile still hahah

Nice one, I have to try being run over as well.
