I've been reading the comic book (and a bit of the novelization) and so far, the only real problem I see is the over-the-top overuse of the force (which is most evident in the game, not so much in the novelization, albeit of some key sequences), other than that it has good story and it doesn't contradict established canon at all...
but yeah, it is EU-Canon... until officially said otherwise

Really. From what I've read, it pretty directly contradicts some things from the movies (aka, that's actually canon), particularly

Spoiler:
involving the formation of the Rebel Alliance
.

The movies

Spoiler:
never showed the formation of the rebellion

But the deleted scenes did, and I think they are considered canon if they are released on the DVDs, no?

Yes, the main scene involving it from ROTS was cut out of the movie. Which sucked because that was pretty important. But even so. Do you think that they'd just sit around for 17 years doing nothing and then suddenly go "Wait, we can oppose this?!"

For that matter, you can argue that Padme planted the seeds that became it back in AOTC.

I am never entirely sure on scenes that are cut, to be honest. That is one that does not contradict anything else previously established, however.

Not quite. Lucas specifically said on the RotS commentary that Shaak Ti's death as shown in the deleted scenes was not canon.

So it sort of depends on GL himself whether cut scenes still happened but weren't shown, or never happened.

Not that i care but Lucas makes this shit up as he goes along. Who really gives a shit what he says anymore?

IGN review...

I believe it's already been stated by LucasArts themselves that it will stand in EU continuity. Aren't you a stickler for "official statements", Ush? And what all does it contradict?

Lucasarts have no power in that area.

As I have already said in this threa,d all that has happened is that TFU will be considered rfor where it fits in canon. That might very well end up being pretty much stated as "it doesn't fit."

Contradictions with EU novels re there and, as also mentiond earlier, it is very likely that the tv series will pummel its continuity very hard indeed.

The whole setting up of the Rebellion is contrary to just about every previous source, including the higher canon novels.

Again folks- all gumf. It will not stand as canon in EU or otherwise.

I've played through the first two levels of TFU, it's awesome. 131

Game's getting some shit reviews.

Not surprised.

We were setting it up on the PS3 and playing the first level when I left work. Entertaining, to be sure, but it'll get old fast.

Well, we'll see.

well, I only read up until Felucia, when Starkiller confronts

Spoiler:
Shaak Ti
... so far, so good

...and I just bought the PS2 version about 4 hours ago, haven't played it yet. The Wii version arrives tomorrow, so I'll wait for that one. In the mid time, the PS2 will have to do.

EDIT: IGN gave the Wii version a better score than PS3/360 version 😐

I have a feeling its going to be one overrated game.

I was not really impressed with the demo at all. It was cool to use the force power at the start but meh the rest of the way.

This game is disappointing. Other than a more refined control scheme i found little difference between this game and Jedi outcast and Jedi academy. I'm about six hours into the game and i am still wondering where all of those "Extreme" force powers are that the developers were talking about. There is nothing in this game that we haven't seen in any other Star Wars game. That isn't necessarily a bad thing because it's fairly well made but it's all been done before and done better. Also, from day one, the developers were singing about the new depth of the force powers. Again, other than a more powerful force push there is nothing special about the force powers. Thankfully, however, it is rather easy to execute the force powers even if the controls feel very loose.
I keep reading the praises that people are giving to this story. The story is one of the better aspects of the game but i didn't see anything special about it. I did like that they tried to present the game in a more mature tone. I think that helped the game very much but by the time i became slightly invested into the characters the story had ended. I suppose you can call that good story telling but i call it a near miss.
The graphics are also nothing special. The character models are great and the apprentices animations are cool but there just arent very many of them. The graphics may have been more impressive had there been any depth to the level designs. I don't mean to be to harsh on this game because it's not bad but it's just not that good. If i were new to the star wars universe and hadn't been invested in the content for nearly twenty years, i'm sure this game would have blown my socks off but it's a case of been there done that. This game was hurt badly by the hype machine. I would give it a 6.5/10

I would've thought the game be Canon With the movies since George Lucas created the project with the direct input and guidance of him 😬 .

This sucks, I been waiting for this game and Rock Band 2, but I have no power at home thanks to the hurricane. 🙁

Hmm...I dont have such an urge to buy this anymore...demo was fairly lame and its getting poor reviews. The gameplay just sounds sloppy for a LucasArts game.

Yeaa, just got my 360 copy; can't wait to play it later.(after work)

The game looks like something to get into. At gamestop I saw this dude playing as (PS3) Vader in Kashyykk and he sucked. There was a small crowd and he kept quoting Vader and kept yelling "Haduuken!" everytime he did the Force push and on his own imperial s.troopers the whole time instead at least attempting the mission. He must've been 19 or 20, probably just trying to show off or be annoying but the game does look kick a$$ though.

I liked how you can see really far into the distance.

TFU may not be that profound of a game the likes of a strategy game but I looks mad fun to play. Just something you throw on and play for a couple of hours and not be bored at all cause you’d be so into it cause of the fun factor.

So I can’t wait. And man I know this game'll look and sound sweet on my "46 Sony Bravia with 5.1 sur. snd. with an Xbox Elite. (hdmi), at night. That and Gears of War 2.

So is this game any good? I heard it's rather short and really not as good as it could have been (well not on par that is to Jedi Knight II).
