Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Started by General Kaliero47 pages

I've done five levels, I think, and while there are definitely a few issues, many Star Wars fans will play it for the story.

It's not nearly as bad as many reviews are making it out to be. My only real problem so far has been basic enemies inexplicably immune to my powers, when I'd much prefer that anything human-sized and non-Jedi be as easily massacre-able as the stock stormtroopers.

Surprisingly, the story and characterization are excellent. The Apprentice is actually given some depth, and Juno and PROXY act as very strong foils for him, PROXY especially. So far there has been nothing I've seen to contradict canon, and it links to the movies in very interesting ways. One thing I liked is that the Jedi Masters the Apprentice is sent after are given believable reasons for escaping Order 66.

All in all, it is an enjoyable game, with a few noticeable flaws, but not debilitating ones.

What score do you give it. (outta 10)

I'd say a solid 8 out of 10.

Edit: Of course, scores are subjective, as as I've been a Star Wars fan for literally longer than I can remember, I may have given the game a little more leeway than a less rabidly adoring player might.

See, and I'm the type of rabid SW fan that is extraordinarily critical of things, so I'm likely to give it far less leeway than I would if it were anything else 😛

You just hate it cause the Apprentice is overpowered. 131

You think galen is overpowered? Have you ever heard of darth nihilus or dark empire sidious or even luke skywalker? Those guys are overpowered like balls.

And middle finger to lucasarts for giving a pathetic excuse as to why they are not making a pc version.

...Yeah, I am well aware of who they are and what they have done, Nihilus kills all the life on planets, Sidious using the Force Storm can open wormholes which can destroy fleets and raze the surface of a planet, and Luke has manipulated a black hole(with telekinesis I assume).

However, Peach is an EU hater and hates the general overpoweredness of the EU characters.

And now, my little tease lost all its impact because I had to explain it to you. 😐

Yeah, I'm no big fan of the whole Dragonball Z treatment that they give characters in EU...

My little sister had a blast playing the demo earlier, though (I can't pick up the game itself until Friday). She's an evil little kid, she'd throw crates at a bunch of stormtroopers, then pick up the troopers, twirl them around a bit, and launch them off in every direction. She's only 6 years old 😂 😛

The funnest part is throwing Storm Troopers at the TIE fighters and watching it explode and crash into other sstormtroopers.

According to GL, the Clone Wars animated series reps what the SW characters should be able to do.

You know, the series where Yoda lifts a mountain, Mace Windu Hulk jumps into super battle droids and pwns a battallion with no lightsaber, and General Grievous pwns Jedi Masters doing handstands wielding lightsabers with his feet. 😐

i dont remember yoda lifting a mountain.. 😕
the only lifting feat i saw of yoda in that cartoon series was him throwing around the transport ships on coruscant..
can you show me a vid?

It is excelent for gameplay, however.

And anyway, if you think about it, it's the same force powers, just an exagerated look at them.

So after playing TFU for about 3hrs. last night, i’ll have to say that I was (very) satisfied by the end product save for the minor and insignificant details that were overshadowed by how great the experience was.

This is the best SW game I’ve played since “Battlefront II” for the regular Xbox. It’s definitely better that any of the Jedi Knight games. The games’ more like Jedi Knight on steroids with really good gameplay and replay value.

The Force powers are incredible. They’re unlike anything I’ve seen before. Sure they seem overpowered but that what the games about: The Darkside of Force unleashed at its fullest potential and fury. There are dozens of Force power and moves to unlock, as well as other goodies.

The story’s really good too. Even thought I know what’s gonna happen cause I read the graphic novel, it still draws me in cause it’s interactive now.

So my apologies if I’m not following the SW hate trend by saying it sucks just because it’s has to do with SW even if it’s good game, just to seem different and rebellious cause I has a huge fan base with how obviously popular SW is. Think what you want but I say this games’ great. The graphics on the second stage were crazy on that junk planet. I was so amazed by the visuals on that stage that, before starting the stage, and right where I stood, I looked around to view the landscape for about 10 secs.

I liked that the games not your average/generic hack and slash game. The A.I./npc’s in it really engage you and make you think fast (if you put in on hard like I did, anyway) You have to block, engage many of them at the same time or lose energy fast. Sometimes you have o use all you got with them. Like for example it was me against like 10 of them and they got me a couple of times until I had to rethink and really engage them much more effectively and faster than before with all I could by slashing twice at one, turning completely around behind me to use force push on someone else, then I’d jump and turn and electrocute 2 others, land, slash them to death, jump away, land, Force pick up someone else, throw him into the group, dash at them and it just keeps going on and on from there with different ways, from of the top of your head, till you off them all. And that’s good gaming when it happens like that.

What I didn’t like about the game were the loose controls. But you got used to them and soon enough you end up playing just as well as if they were tight. You’d naturally adjust. I also didn’t like the camera with how it acted up. It got frustrating having to simultaneously adjust Starkiller, the camera, and that blue Force indicator that’s on objects, that flickers and disappears if your not positioned just right sometime, all while getting stomped mercilessly and dying, at times, while trying.

I’ll admit, I like SW (kind of alot) so I may seem bias with this post but I think id’a enjoyed this game very much even if I ‘ve never even heard of SW before cause it’s just a really fun game to play, imo.

I give this game a 9/10. That’s the highest rating I’ve ever given a star wars game.

Oh, an I meant that it's my favorite SW game on consoles. If you wanna include PC, then it's "SW: Empire @ War".

Just in case.

That stage where you had to kill endless waves of tie fighters and pull down the star destroyer was one of the most boring and tedious levels i have played in a while.

I didn't say Jedi Knight II was short. I said Unleashed overall wasn't on par with Jedi Knight II (from the reviews I've seen; I haven't played Unleashed). Jedi Knight II is my favorite Star Wars game because they don't overpower the characters like most of the EU does.

Playing a game where you can do super cool ridiculous powers would be fun IMO.

What was his excuse? It would've looked better on PC anyway. Which is what he's partly and greatly about.

Their excuse was that they would either have to scale it back so it would run on a majoirty of PCs, which they didn't want to do, or not enough PCs would be able to run it at the proper settings, which they also didn't want to do.

Which, as everyone knows, makes no freaking sense at all; they made cut down PS2 and Wii versions- hell, critical vibe is that the Wii version might be the best one- so why refuse to do that on PC? And in any case, the argument that not enough PCs can run the high end version is...

... well the whole excuse was gibberish, everyone knows it.
