Characters vary from arc to arc. That's why Storm was written so powerfully, and the Surfer was written so pitifully. Hell, McDuffie even admitted that, too....

I'm not sure if this what your looking for but if you need more I have the issue.
What's really sad is that during the CotC 2, we find out that Brood have captured the young Prophet-Singer and that Storm is still linked to it.
Also not sure what this issue has to do with the debate.
CC just answered me about Storm's durability.
