Assassin's Creed [merged]

Escaping is fun. It seems i play the game just to escape. I also like the interactive city and how you can get a grasp on the city from many different locations. Had the fighting been more in depth i would say the game definetly lived up to the hype. I think its certainly a game worth playing. Especially during this onslaught of FPS's.

I been exploring every inch and every street all over the town. I been killing guards without getting spotted.

WHY CAN'T I GET ANY POINTS FOR THAT?! Grrr!

Points?

Also, to my disappointment I found out that Jade Raymond lied, she once said that

Spoiler:
Altair could swim, especially considering Acre is a port city
, but nope, just tried it, she lied.

haermm

Nope....I wasn't tempted to try that myself.

Anyway.....something I found peculiar.

During the tutorial where it was explained

Spoiler:
what each color meant in eagle vision
, I kind of didn't memorize it right away so for a little while in the beginning I thought
Spoiler:
RED meant that you had to assassinate them
.

Going through the country side I was like WHAT?! 😐

Spoiler:
There are so many RED glowing people/soldiers
.

I was sooo overwhelmed. Of course that's not the case.

But I did come across something peculiar.

Spoiler:
When you first get your horse and you gallop along and get to the arch ways that take you into a new area and you're taking to the cloudy misty screen that gives you a tip and loads the next area
is where I'm talking about. That area.

So

Spoiler:
there's a bunch of....um....well I guess they're allies or neutral or something and then there's this one fellow who glows red. A tip came up on screen about killing all of the guards before going after the target which I thought I had to assassinate b/c he was red and I was naive at the time.

SO I go around killing all of the guards who I think were glowing either white or not at all and either the red soldier ran away or I killed him unknowingly in battle.

Either way, the tip totally mislead me and I don't think I was really required to do anything.

I did get some practice in though.....but still....yeah......

Kind of confusing when I first played that part.

So what about

Spoiler:
riding your horse huh.....through the country side........

It's like as soon as you gallop and there's a soldier near, they'll start coming for you....is riding a horse so wrong? It's like you have to go into blend in mode with the horse (which is SOO SLOW to not garner any attention....or just gallop at full speed regardless and just run away from the soldiers.

Many times I find myself just walking very slowly around in the streets in fear of just running and gaining attention for NO REASON. 😐

I love this game.

😊

Yeah that's the first true thing I have hated about this game so far.
I even consdiered here asking if this was a bug with my version or not, it just seemed so silly. I wish alertness was more tied with speed etc, I can move slow and still get detected, but if I move with the exact same speed, but this time clasp my hands together as in prayer, they don't detect me.... Logic FTW.

you get some profile points after you kill 100 gaurds

Well galloping in from of humans was probably socially unacceptable in those times. You could hurt on of the citizens or soldiers or the walkway were to narrow or horses weren't allowed. What if the horses flipped out... It could be a myriad of things.

Bought it today but can't play it till Sunday cause I'm not at home.....🙁

Having to pray while you walk is a bit annoying. I dont understand how that is anymore inconspicuous as simply walking

I have a feeling if it wasnt for the free roaming part of the game, I wouldnt like this game that much.

I'm having soo much fun climbing buildings but the investigation part is severely lacking. I'm nsurprised that didnt point a big yellow arrow to the bench on where you have to eavesdrop.

Excellent! I like getting rewarded for something I'm enjoying.

*kills more guards*

Those guards are tough....

I like the combat and I dont like it.....or maybe I just suck, but I do love the assassins kills.

Goes to show you that you dont need ultra graphic kills.

Isn't that because Altair looks like a priest (or in this case a monk) so he goes unnoticed 😕

yeah, but he already looks like a monk. Praying isnt going to make someone look any more monkish.

I think its cool and all, but it doesnt make much sense. My alert level will be on red and just because i start to pray im all good

its a homage to the olden days, when God was more present in more direct in influence 😛

oh yeah, i understand that. Im sure the fact that its a game with strong religious overtones in general also gets that point across too. ITs just a nuisance to have to walk slower than a retarded paraplegic can crawl.

Have anyone tried to run 10 feet, pray two feet, run 10 feet, pray two feet etc? Will that be enough praying to not get attention?

I just did my first Assassination, and now I can reply to some posts I had to ignore because of spoiler tags earlier...

Okay, so I'm kind of pissed how my first official assassination went.

Spoiler:
I'm in Damascus and I go to assassinate Tamir and I catch him at an side angle by accident and he grabs me and throws me back and starts chasing me. I'm thinking he'll run away now and I hear commotion and think guards are coming.

SO I run away to get a low profile and vanish and try again after I'm off the radar. So I go to a roof top covered garden and hide. I immediately jump out. It's not possible to hide b/c it's not the guards after me..it's Tamir and one of his henchmen.

So I have to fight. So we fought on the rooftops...he's fast by the way. Caught right up to me....and I beat him up there. It wasn't even a proper assassination....just a sword fight to the death. And then I didn't even have to bother with running from guards b/c I killed him on the rooftops so the run back to the Bureau was an unfortunately eventless one.

Kind of took away from the experience how I poorly executed the whole thing.

First off, how did you manage to get into that position? I just did it, and

Spoiler:
After Tamir had stabbed that poor weapon-smith or whatever he was a million times he started moving around and talking to the different merchants working at his souk. I was walking around carefully, watching to see where he would go. I "happened" to walk past him when he bent across a table to talk to a merchant, and then simply jumped him and stabbed him in the neck, and had a pretty intense getaway run. How you two managed to get into a rooftop swordfight with him, seems beyond me.

That's what I did, in a nutshell.

the cutscene ended and my friend was too close and the guy walked straight into him and the fight started.
